The Carthage College women's basketball team (15-3, 5-2 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin), ranked 18th in the Jan. 26 Women's Basketball Coaches Association/USA Today/ESPN NCAA Division III poll and 20th in the Jan. 26 “D3hoops.com” poll, defeated CCIW-opponent North Park University (4-14, 1-6 CCIW), 65-41, on Tuesday, Jan. 26 at the North Park Gym in Chicago. With the win, Carthage remains in third place in the conference standings midway through the league schedule. The Lady Reds trail both Illinois Wesleyan University and Elmhurst College.

Carthage never trailed in the game. The Lady Reds led by just three points, 11-8, at 11:48 first half. A 10-point run put Carthage up by 13, 21-8, at 3:40. The Lady Reds led by as much as 14 points, 24-10, at 3:05 and led by 12 at the break, 30-18. Carthage opened the second period on a 13-0 run to go up by 25 points, 43-18, at 13:22. The Lady Reds led by as much as 32 points, 62-30 at 3:54, and went on to win by 24, 65-41. 

Carthage shot 44 percent (23-52), while North Park shot just 26 percent (12-47). The Lady Reds out-rebounded the Vikings by five, 40-35. Heather Gilmore (Sr., Des Moines, Iowa/Pleasant Hill-Southeast) was the lone Carthage player in double figures with 13 points on five-of-nine field goals and two-of-four free throws, along with six rebounds and three assists. Taylor Tondelli (Jr., Downers Grove, Ill./South) came off the bench to score nine points. Katie Klemke (Sr., Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) had eight points, and Cailee Corcoran (Fr., Oak Lawn, Ill./Chicago-Marist) came off the bench to score eight points. Diana Jacklin (So., Berwyn, Ill./Morton West) was limited to five points with a game-high seven rebounds. 

North Park's Kim Acree scored a game-high 14 points with six boards, while Dana Christensen added 10 points. On Saturday, Jan. 30, the Lady Reds play host to conference-opponent and No. 1 Illinois Wesleyan University (18-0, 7-0 CCIW) in a 5 p.m. contest at Tarble Arena in Kenosha, Wis.
