The Carthage College women's basketball team (5-0, 0-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin), ranked 31st in the Dec. 1 "D3hoops.com" poll, upended Lake Forest College (3-2), 78-59, on Monday, Nov. 30 at Tarble Arena in Kenosha, Wis. Carthage, which still has not trailed in a game since the opening seconds of the Nov. 17 Monmouth game, never trailed in this one either. The game was tied once at 18:45, and the Lady Reds took the lead, for good, at 17:39.
Carthage led by as much as 15 points in the first half, 35-20, at 2:47 and led by 13 at the break, 37-24. In the second half, the Lady Reds quickly built a 20-point lead,, 48-28, at 15:52. The bulge went to 27 points, 66-39, at 7:29, and Carthage cruised to a 19-point decision, 78-59.
The Lady Reds shot 51 percent (32-63), while the Foresters shot 42 percent (21-50). Diana Jacklin (So., Berwyn, Ill./Florida Gulf Coast University) scored a game-high 23 points on 11-of-16 field goals and one-of-four free throws, while pulling down six rebounds. Rosie Dorn (Sr., Chicago, Ill./Wilmette-Regina Dominican) was the only other Carthage player in double figures with 10 points and six boards. Katie Klemke (Sr., Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) had six points and seven assists. Carthage plays host to No. 25 Calvin College (6-0) on Friday, Dec. 4 in a 7:30 p.m., also at Tarble Arena.
