The Carthage College women's tennis team (8-4, 5-1 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) concluded its regular-season CCIW schedule on Wednesday, Sept. 30 with a 6-3 win over North Central College (10-3, 3-3 CCIW) at Ranchview Park in Naperville, Ill.
Carthage's Gina Klein (Sr., Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South, 7-6) won her number-one singles match on Sept. 30 over North Central College's Cory Schillerstrom, 6-4, 3-6, 12-10. Beth Kaufman (Sr., Barrington, Ill., 5-3) was a winner at number-two singles over the Cardinals, as was Hollis McPeek (So., Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest, 10-5) at number-three singles and Kristina Naidicz (So., Kenosha, Wis./Tremper/UW-Oshkosh, 7-5) at number-four singles. Ashley Morgan (Sr., Afton, Minn./Stillwater Area, 7-4) lost at number-five singles, as did Stephanie Zundl (Fr., Sleepy Hollow, Ill./Carpentersville—Dundee-Crown, 6-5) at number-six singles.
The Lady Reds' number-one doubles team of Klein and McPeek (10-5) was a winner at North Central, as was the number-two team of Kaufman and Naidicz (6-3). Carthage's number-three tandem of Morgan and Amanda Bizub (So., Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead, 5-5) lost to North Central. Carthage travels to Bloomington, Ill., on Friday-Saturday, Oct. 9-10 for the CCIW Women's Tennis Championship at the Evergreen Racquet Club.
