Carthage Falls to Carroll (Wis.) in CCIW Road Match

WAUKESHA, Wis. — The Carthage College men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Carroll on Wednesday night at Schneider Stadium in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play.

The Firebirds battled back from an early deficit to even the match in the second half, but Carroll scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 75th minute to secure the victory. Carthage continued to create opportunities late, but was unable to find the equalizer.

How it Happened
  • Carthage created the first quality opportunity of the match in the ninth minute when Jordan Mok put a shot toward the bottom-right corner, but the attempt was saved.
  • Carroll answered with several chances of its own before taking a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute.
  • Carthage continued to look for an equalizer before halftime, with Adrian Atanassov and Samuel Riano each recording a shot, but the Firebirds entered halftime trailing 1-0.
  • Carthage came out aggressively in the second half, with Eli Schoffstall and Dennis Valle each recording a shot within the opening four minutes.
  • The pressure paid off in the 52nd minute when Dominic Gadalinski found the back of the net to even the match at 1-1. Samuel Riano and Valle were credited with assists on the goal.
  • Gadalinski nearly added another goal shortly afterward, but his attempt in the 54th minute went over the target.
