Spring 2026 NECC Semifinals Recap: Valorant, RL Black, and OW Red Reach Conference Title Matches

KENOSHA – On Wednesday, April 8, Carthage Esports completed its Spring 2026 National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) Semifinal matches. The following teams advanced: Valorant [Division VI Midwest], Rocket League (RL) Black [Division III Midwest], and Overwatch (OW) Red [Division III Central]. All of them possessed the chance to secure NECC conference titles for Carthage Esports.

2026 NECC Nationals – Qualified Teams

Before proceeding with the Semifinals Recap, we wish to briefly acknowledge the teams that successfully qualified for the 2026 NECC Nationals – Valorant [Varsity], RL Black, RL White, OW Red, and OW Black. These teams secured their spots by accumulating sufficient points during the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters. Valorant and OW Red were explicitly assured qualifying positions due to their respective conference championship victories. Conversely, RL Black, RL White, and OW Black qualified based on their performance in regular-season and playoff podium points.

Spring 2026 NECC Semifinals Recap – No. 1 Drury University Panthers vs. No. 3 Carthage Valorant [Varsity] [Division VI – Midwest Playoffs]

Score: Carthage 2, Drury 0

Carthage Valorant suited up for a Division VI Midwest Semifinal series against the Drury University Panthers on Monday, March 30. A week earlier, the Firebirds outlasted the Governors State University [GSU] Jaguars in a competitive quarterfinal match. Despite a strong fight from GSU, Carthage clutched a 14-12 Map One victory on Bind in overtime. Next, the Firebirds earned a 13-4 Map Two win on Abyss after they started 9-3 on the attacking side. In the semifinal, Carthage pieced together two straight map wins to complete a sweep – 13-11 on Breeze and 13-11 on Corrode.

Carthage Valorant's roster includes junior captain Sergio Musaitef (Gio), junior Aiden Hecht (Hecht), senior Mady Savage (Bunny), sophomore Ryan Rivera (Righreanden), freshman Charlie Post (Opt1mal), and freshman Thalia Sullivan (Jellyfish).

In the regular season, Carthage finished with a 5-1 Overall and 11-3 Map record. Because of these metrics, the Firebirds secured second place in the Division VI – Midwest A standings. Furthermore, Carthage secured the No. 3 seed because Division VI – Midwest A rival, Minot State Red (5-1, 11-3), matched their record and had a Week One head-to-head victory over them. Lastly, Drury University posted a 6-0 Overall record, making them the only undefeated team across Division VI – Midwest. For context, Drury University finished with a 6-0 Overall and 12-4 Map record.
Brief Map Explanations
  • Breeze is a larger, tropical-themed map known for its wide-open spaces, long-range sightlines, and intense mid-control fights. It contains a mechanical door in A-site, and a one-way chute from A-Hall to Mid. This map forces players to be aware of complex, rotation-heavy strategies.
  • Corrode is a map that emphasizes "old school" FPS mechanics, prioritizing precise aiming and optimal positioning over excessive ability output. It also lacks mechanical hooks or rotating doors.

[Map One / Breeze 13-11 Win]

Half One

To open the series, Carthage began on the attacking side, while Drury played defense. Before both teams swapped roles, the Panthers forced a 6-6 tie. Despite a tight margin of error, the Firebirds prevailed in the latter stages. At one point, Carthage propelled itself to a 6-1 round advantage. In Round One, Rivera [Viper] launched a wall of toxic mist, while Sullivan [Jett] launched smoke clouds into A-site from A-Shop. Then, Post [Sova] planted the spike. In the brief post-plant, Hecht [Chamber] kept a close eye on the Mid-Wood Doors and took out Blitz [Jett] and Littlestahar [Neon]. To secure a flawless opener, Sullivan took out October [Astra], while Post eliminated Jarlax [Sova] and Kenny [Viper]. In Round Two, the Firebirds opted for another A-site push. After Rivera launched another wall, Sullivan charged into the site and proceeded to eliminate four Panther defenders – Blitz, October, Jarlax, and Kenny sequentially – with a Spectre SMG.

After Carthage's 2-0 start, Drury took Round Three as Blitz threw a wrench in Carthage's plan to push through B-site. As Musaitef [Kay/O], Post, Rivera, and Sullivan all entered B-Main, Blitz positioned himself behind a corner near the B-site entrance. Sullivan never checked the corner and was taken out. Next, Post attempted to peek at Blitz from the same corner. However, Blitz used Jett's quick dash to hide behind a box and peek Post on a tight angle. With 15 seconds left, Rivera found himself in a one-versus-four where he sniped October, but was overwhelmed by the Panthers defense.

As the first half progressed, Carthage would win the next four rounds to go up 6-1. A crucial Round Six performance by Hecht solidified the Firebirds' momentum. With 52 seconds left, a two-versus-three situation presented itself. Hecht swung through B-Tunnel and flanked Kenny and Jarlax. Meanwhile, Littlestahar denied Post's plant. In a one-versus-one, Hecht planted in the B-site and waited for Littlestahar to enter B-Tunnel. However, Blitz shut down the Firebirds' upward trajectory as he hit a few crucial snipes across Drury's five-round run. Blitz's early picks took away Carthage's offensive plan – coverage coupled with an immediate spike plant in a given sight – which gave the Panthers a chance to showcase their true defensive prowess on Breeze. To end the half, Littlestahar and Jarlax secured a couple of opening picks in A-site to give Drury a clear man advantage to force a 6-6 tie.

Half Two

The second half of Breeze began with Drury taking a 7-6 lead after a successful A-site plant. Musaitef and Sullivan faced a two-versus-four and were picked off by October and Blitz, respectively. In Round 14, the Firebirds snapped the Panthers' six-round win streak. Once Jarlax planted the spike in A-site, Post walked forward, found him behind a box, and shot him through it. To win the round, Hecht watched A-Shop, where he eliminated Blitz, Kenny, and October with a Classic pistol. Musaitef then defused Drury's spike. In Round 15, Sullivan recorded a collateral elimination on Blitz and October as they were in a straight line toward the back end of A-site. Thus, she defused the spike and provided the Firebirds with an 8-7 lead. However, the Panthers retook the lead 9-8 after forcing two straight one-versus-five scenarios against Musaitef. In Round 16, October played Mid-Top well, cutting off Post and Rivera from their B-site rotation. Early picks from Blitz and Kenny in Round 17 helped Drury trim Carthage's firepower.

Carthage would then tie the map 9-9 after Post collected three kills out of nowhere in B-site. He stared down B-Main to find Blitz, Jarlax, and Littlestahar. Afterward, he defused Drury's planted spike quickly. After Round 20, the Firebirds went up 11-9 as Rivera facilitated a strong defensive stand. First, Rivera crept toward the A-Shop entry point, held the corner, and swung when Blitz disengaged. In a flash, Rivera turned around and eliminated Kenny after Post was gunned down. Thus, Rivera had adequate time to defuse the Panthers' A-site plant. In Round 21, Carthage forced a 12-9 map point scenario as they picked apart Drury early and left Jarlax stranded in a one-versus-four post plant situation. Before the Firebirds officially took Map One, the Panthers collected two straight rounds to make the score 12-11. To win Map One, the Firebirds defended B-site well in Round 24. This included a three-kill outing for Musaitef, one for Hecht, and one for Post, who snuck up behind Blitz to secure the map's final kill.

[Map Two / Corrode 13-11 Win]

Half One

At Corrode, the Firebirds started on defense, while the Panthers went on the attack. At halftime, Drury held a 7-5 lead over Carthage. Although a deficit presented itself, the Firebirds remained resilient and got the job done. The Firebirds were up 3-2 before the Panthers went on a hot streak. Two critical rounds kept Carthage level with their opponent. For Round Three in particular, Rivera [Waylay] and Hecht [Breach] defended B-site during a two-versus-two situation against Jarlax [Sova] and Littlestahar [Chamber]. As chaos ensued in Round Five, Musaitef [Chamber] sniped 80% of Drury's defense with Chamber's specialized sniper to help his team achieve a 3-2 lead.

However, Drury won three straight rounds to force a 5-3 score. Round Six included a clutch from Kenny [Tejo] as he used Tejo's aerial carpet bomb to prevent Sullivan [Omen] from defusing a B-site plant. In Round Seven, the Panthers picked through the Firebirds' defense, planted in A-site, and left Sullivan with no choice but to leave the spike. In Round Eight, October [Omen] recorded three kills for Drury as they locked down A-site despite a late surge from Musaitef. The Firebirds answered back and tied the score 5-5. As October attempted to plant in A-site with mere seconds left in Round Nine, Musaitef spotted him through the smoke and gunned him down with a Stinger SMG.

For Round 10, Rivera secured four eliminations against the Panthers to prevent a B-site plant. Rivera nearly doubled down on his sporadic efforts, but Jarlax shut him down in Round 11 in a one-versus-one in B-Elbow. To end the half, Drury successfully executed a spike plant in A-site. In a four-versus-four post-plant, Post [Fade] tried to push into A-site with a smoke cloud. However, Blitz [Waylay], Jarlax, and October had scouted it well and eliminated Musaitef, Post, Sullivan, and Hecht in that order.

Half Two

Trailing 7-5, Carthage sought to even the score, and they did after a couple of rebound performances. In Round 13, the Firebirds decisively planted in A-site early thanks to smoke coverage from Sullivan and Post's quick situational awareness. Despite Drury's efforts, they couldn't halt Carthage. October speed-walked toward A-yard but was quickly stopped by Musaitef. Meanwhile, Jarlax and Kenny tried to push from A-Crane/Elbow. They faced a relentless barrage of shots from Musaitef and Sullivan from behind, allowing the Firebirds to secure another flawless round. In Round 14, the Panthers thought the Firebirds would push A-site. Instead, Carthage went to B-site and capitalized on the opportunity to stick another quick plant. As a result, Drury scrambled along north-side B-Arch and east-side B-Link. In B-Arch specifically, Sullivan gunned down Blitz and Littlestahar, while Hecht claimed Kenny's life. Meanwhile, Rivera took care of Jarlax and October, who tried to rotate in from B-Link.

After a few rounds, Carthage found itself down 10-9 after Drury wrestled the lead away. However, Rounds 20 and 21 resembled the Firebirds' endurance. In Round 20, Sullivan and Co. made a strategic rotation to A-site through A-Link with 41 seconds left. Hecht picked off Blitz from Mid-Stairs to ensure the rotation was fluid. Then, Sullivan planted the spike, and Carthage prepared its defenses and held tight angles. In the right corner of A-site, Rivera killed Jarlax through a smoke cloud and immediately fell to Littlestahar. Then, Sullivan secured the refrag on Littlestahar, creating a one-versus-three scenario. Kenny was caught off guard, allowing the spike to explode in A-site. In Round 21, Drury's defense faltered again by leaving A-site undefended. A four-versus-three situation, initiated by Rivera's double flank kill, gave Carthage an 11-10 lead.

To secure the series point, Round 22 started with two important Mid-Stair eliminations by Post, who used the Phantom AR. He eliminated Blitz and then October right after Rivera's death. Once again, the Panthers became deceived by the Firebirds' offensive rotations between the bomb sites. They had free rein of B-site and executed a timely plant. To finish the round, Musaitef found Littlestahar in B-Arch, while Post collected two more eliminations–Jarlax and Kenny–in B-site. Drury extended the map to 12-11 after Kenny prevented Musaitef from earning a series-winning ace.

However, the Panthers lost in Round 24. Sullivan made two key interceptions early as Carthage fought hard at A-site. However, the Firebirds promptly chose to shift their focus toward the B-site. Post had sufficient time to plant the spike, and the team effectively capitalized on this opportunity. Although Littlestahar reduced Carthage's defensive firepower, he faced an insurmountable post-plant situation, during which he had no opportunity to defuse the spike and was immediately swung by Post at B-site. Thus, the Firebirds punched their ticket to the Spring 2026 NECC Division VI Midwest Valorant Championship vs. No. 5 Cornell College.

Spring 2026 NECC Semifinals Recap – No. 2 Carthage RL Black vs. No. 6 Central Methodist University [CMU] Eagles [Division III – Midwest Playoffs]

Score: Carthage RL Black 4, CMU 1

Carthage RL Black, featuring junior captain Penn Gilchrist (Pixlr), junior Lucas Menzer (Joystik), and senior Tanner Lee (Flare), faced No. 6 CMU Eagles in a regularly scheduled Division III – Midwest Semifinal series on Wednesday, April 8. Previously, RL Black slayed No. 7 Durham College (Lords) Esports, 4-2, headlined by a seven-goal performance by Gilchrist, on Wednesday, April 1.

Upon the conclusion of Spring 2026's regular season, RL Black earned a 7-0 Overall and 28-10 Game record. With these metrics, the team secured first place in the Division III – Midwest B standings and earned the No. 2 seed in the Division III – Midwest Playoffs. RL Black was given this seed solely because Indiana Tech B (7-0, 28-6) had the better Game Differential. Thus, Indiana Tech B claimed the No. 1 seed and was placed on the opposite end of Division III's Midwest Playoffs bracket. Lastly, this now means RL Black will have to defeat Indiana Tech B to win the conference championship.

In Game One, RL Black achieved a notable 3-2 overtime victory against CMU (Asher, Floofers, and YoYoBroMan), preventing a comeback. To create a scoring chance, Lee spun towards CMU's goal line past Floofers. He then found an opening to drop the ball for Menzer, who skillfully air-dribbled in front of YoYo and finished with a bar-down flick at 3:54. On their next possession, RL Black once again relied on Lee and Menzer's chemistry. Lee zipped through CMU's right wall, tapped the ball above Floofers, and perfectly centered it for Menzer (3:29).

Their defense faltered when Asher won a 50/50 duel with Gilchrist near Carthage's half. Asher flicked the ball past Lee, hit Menzer, and caused Gilchrist to score an own goal (2:35). To level the score at 2-2, the Eagles exploited a Firebirds overcommitment. Lee attempted to beat Asher to a midfield ball but failed (0:44). Neither team scored in regulation, leading to a 3:17 overtime, which the Firebirds won. Floofers softly cleared the ball. Menzer dribbled past him and scored after demolishing him. CMU scrambled as YoYo struggled to clear. Lee scored after anticipating the touch.

Next, RL Black secured a 2-0 Game Two win. Lee scored within the opening nine seconds. To kick off the game, Menzer carried the ball from his team's half all the way to CMU's goal line. Here, YoYo mistimed his jump on Menzer's awkward bounce. Thus, Lee came in as the second man to knock down the shot (4:51). Before the clock reached four minutes left, Menzer centered the ball by executing a triple-tap off CMU's backwall. The last tap came off CMU's backboard, and Gilchrist raced in to secure the goal (4:04). From here on out, the Firebirds held the Eagles to zero goals and just three total shots on net.

In Game Three, RL Black won 2-1 as Lee knocked the ball down at regulation's end. Both teams struggled early before RL Black scored via Menzer (2:50). Gilchrist set up Menzer with a left goal-post pass. Menzer shot to the top-right corner above Asher. On the next kickoff, a Gilchrist touch off Carthage's wall let Floofers cut Gilchrist off at midfield, leading Floofers to score into RL Black's net as Asher kept Menzer away from the net (2:38). Then, RL Black took a 2-1 lead on the next kickoff: Gilchrist centered to Lee, who scored after redirecting Gilchrist's shot into the net (2:31). The final 2:30 saw RL Black play strong defense to secure the win.

CMU extended the series with a 3-2 Game Four victory. Within Game Four's opening minute, Menzer twirled the ball around Asher at midfield and passed to Gilchrist, who quickly scored to prevent YoYo's save (4:01). CMU equalized a minute later after Floofers won another 50/50 at midfield. After denying Menzer's carry, the ball ricocheted to Asher on Floofers' left. Asher then passed to Lee, who scored after collecting a boost (3:03). CMU took a 2-1 lead after disrupting RL Black's defense once more. Floofers intercepted a soft clear from Menzer on RL Black's right side. At the same time, Asher flushed Lee from his net, leaving Gilchrist awkward. Floofers scored again as Gilchrist barely missed (2:29). A minute later, Gilchrist tied the game with a slow shot that threw off Asher and YoYo as they tried to boost (1:29). With 25 seconds left, RL Black had a great chance to go up 3-2. Lee boosted his way down the left sideline and lined up a goalpost pass for Gilchrist. However, Asher intercepted the ball and launched a game-winning deep shot into Carthage's net as all three members pushed up too much (0:20).

Lastly, RL Black closed the series with a 3-1 Game Five win. With four minutes remaining, Lee set himself up for a vintage double-tap, but missed the touch. Floofers collected the ball and quickly advanced it to Carthage's net. On the right side, he passed to Asher, who was ready for an alley-oop, and gave CMU a 1-0 lead (3:33). However, RL Black went on to score three unanswered goals and couple it with increased discipline on defensive rotations.

Carthage's first goal came off an aerial fastbreak from Menzer as he carried the ball above CMU's net and dropped it down for Gilchrist, who hit a gnarly redirect in front of Asher (3:16). The team's second goal came at the 1:39 mark when Lee hit a soft flip-reset near the Eagles' net. Then, Gilchrist hit a breathtaking bar-down shot into the net. To earn the game's final goal, Lee outjumped Floofers for a ball near CMU's goal line. With no one to back him up, Floofers watched as Lee provided a Firebirds insurance goal. Thus, RL Black eliminated CMU for good and advanced to the Division III Midwest Championship.

Spring 2026 NECC Semifinals Recap – No. 1 Carthage OW Red vs. No. 5 Northern Illinois University [NIU] Huskies [Division III – Central Playoffs]

Score: Carthage OW Red 3, NIU 1

Carthage OW Red, featuring junior captain Mason Stenger (zXc), junior Joy Schultz (JumpyWizard), sophomore Billy Flanagan (ChickenFries), sophomore Deacon Kirvan (FerociousPig), and sophomore Adam Hollis (Hollister09), continued their Division III – Central Playoff stint with a 3-1 semifinal victory vs. the NIU Huskies on Friday, April 3. Within the best-of-five series, Carthage OW Red competed against NIU in the following game mode/map combinations: Control (Ilios), Flashpoint (Aatlis), Escort (Shambali Monastery), and Push (Esperança).

Upon the conclusion of Spring 2026's NECC regular season, OW Red finished with a 7-0 Overall and 21-0 Map record. Because of these metrics, the team earned first place in the Division III – Central A standings and the No. 1 seed throughout the playoffs.

Brief Game Mode Explanations
  • Control is a game mode where teams compete to capture a point from 0% to 100% in a best-of-three format. To win the map, a team must secure two out of three points.
  • Flashpoint is similar to Control, but competing teams aim to hold three of five objectives for a shorter duration.
  • Escort involves two teams taking turns to move and defend a payload objective. On attack, the goal is to advance the payload through checkpoints within a given time limit. The defensive goal is self-explanatory: prevent the payload's movement.
  • Push involves two teams competing to guide a robot across multiple checkpoints. The winning team is determined by the robot's meter distance over 10 minutes.

Brief Map Explanations
  • Ilios is a scenic Mediterranean map with three parts: Lighthouse, Ruins, and Well. The Lighthouse features a control point inside a small building surrounded by cliffs, favoring heroes who can knock enemies off the map. The Well features an open, sunken point with a deadly central pit. Ruins is an open, ancient, and high-ground-heavy, multi-lane area. Teams must have consistent control and smart positioning to avoid flankers.
  • Aatlis is a small Flashpoint map characterized by its futuristic, nighttime urban environment inspired by Moroccan architecture, featuring green roof tiles, horseshoe-shaped archways, and arabesque decorations.
  • Shambali Monastery is an Escort map set in a snowy Nepalese mountain village, designed with a steep uphill trajectory, numerous flank routes, and tight chokepoints. Players escort a payload through a former Omnic refuge, featuring a village marketplace, cave system, and a final temple checkpoint.
  • Esperança is a Push map set in a fictionalized, sun-drenched coastal city in Portugal. It features classic Portuguese architecture, including tiled buildings, residential streets, and a central tower with many flanking routes. The map emphasizes authenticity and high-ground vantage points.

Map One (Ilios / 2-1 Control Loss)

For Round One, both teams fought over the Well objective in Ilios. Carthage captured the point first and reached 22% before the Huskies wrestled it away. Early picks from Hollis [Kiriko] and Kirvan [Vendetta] opened the door for the early advantage. However, NIU player Whit [Emre] wiped the Firebirds' DPS players – Stenger [Echo] and Kirvan, which opened the door for NIU to take the objective. After winning a teamfight, NIU pushed their percentage to 99%. Before the Huskies could reach 100%, Schultz [Jetpack Cat] eliminated Haze [Kiriko], while Flanagan [Wrecking Ball] made Whit [Emre] fall off the map and eventually ground pounded Flawless [Winston]. After these crucial picks, the Firebirds got up to 64% before NIU retook the objective. Fiercesafe [Lucio] booped Flanagan deep into the well, Flawless meleed Stenger, and eliminated Hollis. Then, Whit picked off Schultz, while Azaleacat [Tracer] took out Kirvan, which left Stenger in a one-versus-four situation. Evidently, he became overwhelmed, and the Huskies earned a Round One win.

In Round Two, Carthage and NIU battled in the Lighthouse objective in Ilios. The Firebirds increased their percentage from zero to 42% before NIU took over. Azaleacat eliminated Stenger in a Tracer versus Tracer battle, which allowed the Huskies to swarm the Lighthouse objective. Flawless [Winston], leveled Flanagan [Zarya] and Kirvan [Reaper] in Ruins to ensure NIU captured the objective. Then, the Huskies won a scrappy team fight to capture the percentage lead. Flawless' "Primal Rage" elimination against Stenger allowed NIU to extend its percentage. Before the Huskies could cross 80%, the Firebirds retook the point as Hollis and Stenger picked off NIU's Support players – Haze [Kiriko] and Fiercesafe [Lucio]. To cross 60%, Kirvan used Reaper's "Death Blossom" ultimate to wipe out Flawless and Haze. After this ultimate, NIU did not have enough firepower to contest the objective until the Firebirds hovered around 99%. For the last major team fight, Kirvan carved through Flawless and Haze once again. Flanagan took out Fiercesafe, Kirvan meleed Whit, and Hollis sent Azaleacat to the shadow realm to tie the score 1-1.

Lastly, Round Three was settled in the Ruins objective in Ilios. This presented an odd start for Carthage as Azaleacat quickly eliminated Flanagan, Hollis, and Schultz. With a Tank and two Support players down, it became easier for NIU to scrap the Firebirds. Whit [Emre] claimed Kirvan's life, which left Stenger [Tracer] isolated in the Huskies' backline. Stenger's instinctive positioning kept him alive for a while, and he rejoined his team after they respawned. As NIU reached 36%, Stenger eliminated Flawless [Winston]. Although Whit kept NIU's objective control, Flanagan dismantled NIU's support, and Stenger put an end to Whit's brief reign of terror.

As the Huskies aimed to regroup, the Firebirds captured the objective. They would need to pass 73% to enter a level playing field. However, they only got to 43% as Azaleacat continued to be a nuisance in Carthage's backline—quick melee on Schultz and a "Pulse Bomb" elimination on Hollis. Although Stenger valiantly shifted around, Whit meleed him to end the team fight. Hollis used Kiriko's "Kitsune Rush" to help Carthage capture the objective before NIU hit 100%. It was successful as the Firebirds went from 43% to 92%. However, NIU's backline fiends Azaleacat and Whit were too much for Carthage to overcome. Thus, NIU took a 2-1 Control victory on Ilios.

Map Two (Aatlis / 3-0 Flashpoint Win)

After a frustrating end to Control, the Firebirds aimed to tie the series 1-1 on Flashpoint. Aatlis is a map that the Firebirds have grown accustomed to over the competitive year. With this in mind, Carthage found a way to claim a 3-0 victory.

For the first Flashpoint, NIU gained an early advantage as Flawless eliminated Flanagan in a D.Va vs D.Va battle. In addition, Kirvan [Vendetta] died at the hands of Fiercesafe [Lucio]. Consequently, the Firebirds had no choice but to regroup. In turn, the Huskies racked up 48 percentage points. To take over the point, Kirvan dashed and eliminated Azaleacat [Vendetta] and Whit [Emre] with a powerful sword. Stenger [Sojourn] would then eliminate Haze [Kiriko] with a charge shot to end the team fight. Carthage held the Flashpoint from 0% to 100% without giving it up once. A huge deciding factor was Kirvan, who used Vendetta's "Sundering Blade" to eliminate Azaleacat when the Firebirds were at 60%. Lastly, Flanagan did an incredible job of alleviating pressure by picking off Fiercesafe and Whit.

To open the second Flashpoint, Schultz launched Lucio's "Sound Barrier" ultimate to overheal Carthage. However, NIU combined Emre's "Override Protocol" and Vendetta's "Sundering Blade" to gain another early Flashpoint advantage. Azaleacat eliminated Schultz, while Whit obliterated Kirvan. After this team fight, the Huskies reached 61% before the Firebirds responded. For the interim, Stenger and Hollis tried to steal the Flashpoint. Before Stenger could do more, Azaleacat shut the door. Flanagan, however, kept himself alive, eliminating Azaleacat and Haze. Thus, Carthage captured the second Flashpoint. Once again, the Firebirds went from 0% to 100% without losing the objective. To secure a 2-0 lead, Stenger wielded Sojourn's railgun to perfection as he deleted Azaleacat and Whit.

Lastly, the third Flashpoint perfectly illustrated Carthage OW Red's resiliency. Once more, NIU captured the objective first, as Azaleacat and Whit used their ultimates to eliminate one player each. From here, the Huskies reached 54% as a huge brawl occurred near the map's edge. NIU's Support players were a pivotal part as Haze recorded two eliminations—Kirvan and Schultz, and Fiercesafe booped Stenger off the map. Before NIU could extend the best-of-five in Flashpoint, Carthage quickly respawned and got on the point. In overtime, Stenger recorded two picks on Flawless and Fiercesafe. This led to the Firebirds' capture, and they never looked back. As the team crossed 95%, Flanagan called in a D.Va bomb on Flawless and called in another Mech while crashing into Haze. These two eliminations defined the Firebirds' ability to isolate NIU's team composition and prevent them from a group-up position. Thus, Carthage found a way to sweep NIU in Flashpoint.

Map Three (Shambali Monastery / 2-1 Escort Win)

In the Escort game mode, Carthage started on defense, while NIU aimed to push the payload. The Firebirds held the Village Marketplace checkpoint for about a minute and a half before Azaleacat [Echo] and Whit [Emre] each eliminated two players. As they took down Flanagan [D.Va], Hollis [Kiriko], Kirvan [Venture], and Schultz [Lucio]. Stenger [Emre] became trapped in the cave and was eventually eliminated. Consequently, NIU increased its time from 2:13 to over four minutes while passing through the Village Marketplace checkpoint.

While navigating the cave system, Azaleacat and Whit alternated in taking down Stenger to weaken Carthage's defenses. However, momentum shifted after Kirvan's drill eliminated Whit, and a Flanagan D.Va bomb hit Fiercesafe [Wuyang]. After this, the Firebirds managed to prevent NIU from capturing the second checkpoint on the attack. A total of 3:15 was spent in frequent team fights, all of which Carthage won. The last one occurred when NIU had only 20 seconds remaining. Stenger started the series by killing Whit with his fire pistol, Flanagan meleed PKZero [Sigma] after he swapped in for Flawless, and took out Fiercesafe, while Kirvan finished the fight against Haze [Kiriko].

On the attacking side, Carthage was temporarily delayed in their spawn room as Azaleacat activated Echo's "Duplicate" ability, which lets her copy the abilities of another hero. She duplicated Ramattra's abilities, the Tank hero Flanagan switched to, and then took out Schultz [Lucio] and Stenger [Cassidy]. To escape the stalemate, Kirvan eliminated PKZero and Whit. As the timer approached 20 seconds remaining, the Firebirds raced toward the Village Marketplace checkpoint. Flanagan used Ramattra's "Annihilation" ultimate to provide cover fire for Kirvan, who came in through the ground as Venture. Kirvan secured two more crucial eliminations—Haze and Fiercesafe, both NIU Supports.

By this point, the Huskies were wounded and tried to regroup. However, the Firebirds were closing in within 103 meters, which would secure their victory. To guarantee an Escort win, Stenger activated Cassidy's "Deadeye" ultimate to take out PKZero, who had swapped to Orisa and thrown a concussion grenade at Whit. To end the team fights for good, Kirvan eliminated Azaleacat with Venture's drill.

Map Four (Esperança / 117m - 55m Push Win)

To initiate Map Four, NIU first lifted the robot and traveled 14 meters. Swiftly, the Firebirds challenged and captured the robot. Flanagan [D.Va] engaged Flawless [D.Va], Hollis [Mizuki] eliminated Fiercesafe [Lucio], and Stenger [Cassidy] took down Haze [Moira]. The Firebirds then advanced from zero to 76 meters. Despite this significant progress, Azaleacat, Flawless, and Hazel effectively countered Carthage's team, resulting in the deaths of Flanagan, Kirvan, and Schultz. As NIU reached 20 meters, Stenger caused a distraction, luring Flawless away from the robot. This allowed Carthage to continue pushing towards 83 meters.

Despite a brief team confrontation, Kirvan and Hollis sustained the offensive push. Carthage advanced 117 meters before the Huskies intercepted the robot. With 2:24 remaining, NIU needed to surpass 118 meters to force a fifth map. The goal seemed attainable as NIU reached 54 meters; however, Flanagan deployed a D.Va bomb on Haze and Whit, eliminating them. In the final minute, Carthage fought hard to stay ahead. To seal a 3-1 series victory, Stenger applied Cassidy's "Deadeye" to destroy Flawless' D.Va Mech, and Kirvan followed up with a "Sundering Blade" to prevent Flawless from calling in another Mech.
