KENOSHA — The American Volleyball Coaches Association unveiled its annual All-America teams Monday, with three Carthage College men's volleyball student-athletes receiving recognition.
Ryan Morey and
Ryan Bartz each earned AVCA First Team All-America honors. Morey, the CCIW Co-Setter of the Year and AVCA Region IV Player of the Year, led the conference with 10.18 assists per set and totaled 794 assists, increasing his career mark to 1,959. The senior dished out a season-high 50 assists against North Central (Ill.) on March 18 and secured both All-CCIW First Team and AVCA Region IV All-Region accolades.
Bartz was named the CCIW Offensive Student-Athlete of the Year, becoming the first Firebird to claim the honor since 2022. He led the league with 3.82 kills per set, ranking 13th nationally, while also placing 11th in the country in aces per set. A First Team All-CCIW selection, Bartz recorded a season-high 21 kills against Stevens on Feb. 5 and matched his top performance from the service line with five aces against North Central (Ill.) on March 18.
Ben Heise completed the group with AVCA Second Team All-America recognition to go along with All-CCIW First Team honors. He placed sixth in the conference with a .360 hitting percentage and ranked fifth with 3.16 kills per set. Nationally, Heise sits 24th in attacks per set, 28th in hitting percentage, 17th in kills per set and 15th in points per set. He posted a season-best 20 kills against UC Santa Cruz on Feb. 13 and added four blocks against Benedictine (Ill.) on Jan. 31.
Carthage advances to face Wittenberg in the NCAA Semifinals on Thursday, April 23, at 6:30 p.m.
