Carthage 6, MSOE 1
RACINE – The Carthage men's tennis team faced off against the MSOE Raiders at the LifeSport Athletic Club on Friday evening. The Firebirds swept doubles play before using five wins in singles play to earn the victory over the Raiders.

 

In doubles play, Finn Morris and Diego Silva defeated Randy Funez and Carlos Lopez 6-3 in No. 1 doubles. In No. 2 doubles, Luca Okino and Victor Pimenta earned a 6-4 win over Miguel Lopez and Clark Rue. Francisco Silveira and Ethan Foucheaux finished off the doubles sweep with a 6-4 victory over Pedro Mendes and Augusto Yamazaki in No. 3 doubles. The Firebirds took a 1-0 lead in the match over the Raiders.

In singles play, Silveira kept the Firebirds ahead with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Funez in No. 1 singles. Bangert fell to Yamazaki 6-4, 6-1 in No. 4 angles as the Raiders found the scoreboard cnd cut the deficit to 2-1. Pimenta defeated Rue in No. 5 singles with a pair of 6-3 victories to extend the Firebirds lead to 3-1. Cyriac Cayuela secured the team victory with a win in No. 3 singles, defeating Carlos Calabuig Patino 6-0, 6-4. Morris earned the win in No. 2 singles with a come from behind 5-7, 6-0, 6-4 performance. Foucheaux finished off the match with a win in No. 6 singles after defeating Lopez 6-4, 7-5.
