No. 38 Wis-Whitewater 4, Carthage 3
RACINE – The Carthage men's tennis team faced off against the Wis-Whitewater Warhawks at the LifeSport Athletic Club on Friday evening. The two squads battled for nearly four hours, with the Warhawks claiming a tight 4-3 victory over the Firebirds.

 

In doubles play, Francisco Silveira and Ethan Foucheaux defeated Julius Jonsson and Daniel Moeller in No. 3 doubles with a 6-2 performance. Finn Morris and Diego Silva dropped a 7-5 loss to Theo Billson and Carter Michaels in No. 1 doubles. The Warhawks claimed the doubles team point with a win in No. 2 doubles as Gavin Kelleher and Charles Morgan defeated Luca Okino and Victor Pimenta 7-6 (7-3).

In singles play, Morgan won by forfeit in No. 2 singles to give the Warhawks a 2-0 lead. Cyriac Cayuela scored a point for the Firebirds in No. 4 singles by defeating Michaels 6-2, 7-5. Morris tied the match at 2-2 with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Andrew Dumbauld in No. 3 singles. The Warhawks retook the lead in No. 1 singles, with Billson defeating Silveira 6-1, 3-6, 6-3. Linus Bangert tied the match once again at 3-3 with a 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 win over Kelleher in No. 5 singles. The match came down to No. 6 singles, where Moeller defeated Okino 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 to secure the win for the Warhawks.


 
The Firebirds (4-1) return home on Feb. 15 to host MSOE in Racine, Wis. at the LifeSport Athletic Club. Action begins at 4:30 p.m. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
