APPLETON - The Carthage women's swim and dive team turned in a commanding performance against Lawrence Friday evening, controlling the meet from start to finish. The Firebirds' depth and consistency were on full display, as the Birds set the tone early and never relinquished momentum, cruising to a decisive team victory.

The meet opened with a win in the 200-yard medley relay, where the Carthage team of Mikella Mesina, Jill Kane, Lois Klinger, and Emily Belcik touched the wall first in 1:57.22.
Brie Skalski delivered a standout distance performance, winning the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:17.12 before returning later in the meet to claim first place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:32.25. Addison Shaffer captured the title in the 200-yard freestyle (2:06.16), while Lucy Brown sprinted to victory in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing in 26.52.
In the individual medley and stroke events, Lyndsey Hackman earned first place in the 200-yard IM (2:20.55), and Klinger added another win for the Firebirds in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:03.85. Claire Knecht led the field in the 100-yard freestyle, touching first in 57.63, while Kane secured a victory in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:11.57). The Firebirds closed the swimming portion of the meet with a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay, finishing in 1:46.58.
On the diving boards, Kendall Leistico capped the day with a first-place finish on the 1-meter board, scoring 286.20 to secure another top result for Carthage.
The Firebirds are back in action on Friday, January 30, for day one action of the Wisconsin Private College Championships. Action is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. For more information, visit our
