ELMHURST —Carthage posted two wins at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Duals on Friday, earning a 35-12 victory over Illinois Wesleyan and a 35-16 decision against MSOE in men's wrestling action.

Against Illinois Wesleyan, the Firebirds controlled the momentum early, as at 125 pounds, Chris Kish set the tone with an 11-0 major decision. Elijah Zepeda followed with a 15-8 decision at 149, and Zaren Anderson added bonus points at 157 with a 19-2 technical fall. Maxwell Schmitt earned a fall at 165, pinning his opponent in 2:55, before CJ Gilbert posted a 15-0 technical fall at 174 in 5:43. London Kiser secured a 13-7 decision at 184, and Elvis Muja capped the dual with a 9-6 decision at 197.

Carthage carried that success into its matchup with MSOE. Kish opened the dual with a 9-2 decision at 125, while Anderson delivered another fall at 157, ending the bout in 4:28. At 184, Kiser recorded a dominant 19-4 technical fall in 2:53. Jared Werner closed the scoring at 197 with a fall in 2:11, sealing the Firebirds' second win of the day.

The Firebirds are in action against Lakeland on Friday, January 30, starting at 7 p.m.
