RIVER FOREST — The Carthage women's soccer team traveled to Concordia Chicago on Wednesday afternoon for a non-conference matchup. A second-half spark by the Firebirds flipped the script to secure the first win of the 2025 season. The 2-0 win over the Cougars secured head coach

- It was scoreless first half until the Firebirds came alive after the break. In the 51st minute, Emma Amberg broke the scoreless game, latching onto a feed from Bella Fusco and striking the bottom corner (1-0).
- In the 86th minute, the Firebirds delivered their second goal. Jadynn Kramer turned Amberg's pass into the net to seal the win for Carthage (2-0).
- The Firebirds recorded 24 shots, 11 shots on goal.
- Ainsley Stallworth posted four saves, collecting the shutout.
- Carthage notched nine corner kicks.
The Firebirds return home Saturday, September 6, as the team looks to host the Battle of the Border. Carthage will host Bethel, Kalamazoo, and Concordia Wisconsin.
