Second-Half Surge Unleashes Firebirds’ First Victory Under Head Coach Chelsea Davis

RIVER FOREST  — The Carthage women's soccer team traveled to Concordia Chicago on Wednesday afternoon for a non-conference matchup. A second-half spark by the Firebirds flipped the script to secure the first win of the 2025 season. The 2-0 win over the Cougars secured head coach Chelsea Davis' first win as head coach of the Carthage College women's soccer team.

How it Happened
  • It was scoreless first half until the Firebirds came alive after the break. In the 51st minute, Emma Amberg broke the scoreless game, latching onto a feed from Bella Fusco and striking the bottom corner (1-0).
  • In the 86th minute, the Firebirds delivered their second goal. Jadynn Kramer turned Amberg's pass into the net to seal the win for Carthage (2-0).

  • The Firebirds recorded 24 shots, 11 shots on goal.
  • Ainsley Stallworth posted four saves, collecting the shutout. 
  • Carthage notched nine corner kicks.
