Women's Volleyball Enters AVCA Top 25

KENOSHA, Wis. The Carthage College women's volleyball team has been ranked No. 25 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA)/TERAFLEX Division III Women's Volleyball poll, the AVCA announced Tuesday. 

The Firebirds are off to a strong 9-1 start to the 2025 campaign, after adding a fourth-consecutive 3-0 sweep with a win over Augustana on Sept. 19. The Firebirds jumped into the top 25 after receiving votes in the poll for the last two weeks. Carthage is tied for 25th with Carnegie-Mellon

This week's poll is topped by La Verne, East Texas Baptist, and Wis-Oshkosh, with three College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) programs appearing in the rankings conversation. No. 7 Illinois Wesleyan leads the league contingent, with the Firebirds at No. 25 and North Park receiving votes.


The Firebirds hit the road this week with a CCIW contest on Wednesday, Sept 24 against North Central in Naperville, Ill. at 7 p.m. The team will then head to Iowa to compete in the Wartburg Invite, where they will face-off against Augsburg, Wartburg, and Cornell.


Carthage women's volleyball returns to Tarble Arena to host the Carthage Triangular on Tuesday, Sept. 30. The triangular will feature No. 3 Wis-Oshkosh, No. 25 Carthage, and Edgewood, who received votes in this week's poll.
