Damon Named CCIW Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Jenna Damon of the Carthage women's volleyball team has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Volleyball Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Damon, a senior from Durand, Ill., led the Firebirds defensive efforts during an undefeated weekend in Tarble Arena. The Firebirds hosted the Carthage Invite and earned three 3-0 victories over No. 13 Wis-Platteville, Colorado College and Concordia (Wis.) Damon registered 54 digs over the span of nine sets, with a season-high 23 digs against Colorado. Damon also recorded six aces from the service line throughout the weekend.

The Firebirds (8-1) return to action on Friday, Sept. 19 as the squad hosts Augustana (Ill.) in Tarble Arena to open CCIW play. Action is set to begin at 7 p.m. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
