WHITEWATER - The Carthage women's tennis team opened the 2025-26 season at the Warhawk Invitational at UW-Whitewater on Saturday morning. It was a strong opening day for the Firebirds, leaving the day with a fifth-place finish.

SINGLES TOURNAMENT
Xingchen Liu competed in the 1 singles bracket for the Firebirds. Liu opened with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Wis- Eau Claire's Beatriz Felchak. Liu then defeated Augustana's Anna-Maria Huebel 6-1, 6-0 to advance to the championship match. Liu would ultimately fall in a 2-6, 7-5 (8-10) match to Grinnell's Pari Chavan. Liu registered a team-high seven points.
Rya Arreazola competed in the 2 Singles bracket for Carthage. Arreazola fell in the opening round 3-6, 3-6 to Grinnell's Isabel Voinescu before being defeated by Wis.-Eau Claire's Reese Burton 8-3. Arreazola bounced back to defeat Wis.-Oshkosh's Cate Gerl 8-3. Arreazola added four points to the team score.
Bella Rizzo competed in the 3 Singles bracket for the Firebirds. Rizzo fell in the opening round 7-5, 6-1 to Aubrey Wittwer of Wis- Eau Claire before defeating Vianna Dao 8-0 and Rafaela Tavares 8-4. Rizzo tallied four more points for the Firebirds.
DOUBLES TOURNAMENT
Greta Peterson and Niki Manojlovic competed in the 1 Doubles bracket,
where they dropped the opening match 6-3 to Wis.-Whitewater. The duo fell in the second round against Oshkosh with a 6-3 performance. Perterson and Manojilovic went on to win against Wis.-Eau Claire 6-2. The duo added a pair of points to the team score.
Marie Weis and Jordan Miller competed in the 2 Doubles bracket,
where they dropped the opening match 6-4 to Wis.-Eau Claire. The duo fell in the second round against Wis.-Oshkosh with a 6-3 performance. Weis and Miller ended their day falling to Wis.-Whitewater 6-2. The Firebirds scored one point in the bracket.
Sabina Skudrnova and Valentina Huesca competed in the 3 Doubles bracket,
where they dropped the opening match 6-2 to Wis.-Oshkosh. The duo fell in the second round against Wis.-La Crosse with a 6-1 performance. Skudrnova and Huesca ended their day defeating Augustana 7-5. The two finished with two points for the team score.
