Scanlon Shines in Complete Effort as No. 30 Carthage Blanks North Central

NAPERVILLE – Behind strong pitching and timely hitting, No. 30 Carthage College shut out North Central (Ill.) 4-0 on Tuesday evening to remain atop the CCIW standings. Ryan Scanlon tossed eight shutout innings, allowing just one hit while striking out 11.

How it Happened 
  • Evan Devine put the Firebirds on the board in the fifth with an RBI double down the right-field line.
  • Devine struck again in the seventh, driving in Drew Knecht to make it 2-0.
  • Carthage added insurance in the eighth on a two-RBI single to right from Matt Felber, bringing home Max Cairo and P.J. Moser.
  • Scanlon struck out six over eight shutout innings, improving to 6-1, while Hartman earned his eighth save of the season.
