Firebirds Earn Top Ten Finish at QC D3 National Tournament

ROCK ISLAND — The Carthage College women's wrestling team traveled to Rock Island, Ill. to compete in the QC D3 National Tournament on Saturday and Sunday.

Kirsten Cortez opened with a loss to Audrey Swiderek (University of Wisconsin Oshkosh) (Fall 4:24) and then fell to Sofia Kawano (Eureka) (TF 12-2).
Karina Torres lost in the opening round to Genesis Ramirez (Aurora) (Fall 1:45). In the consolation bracket, Torres defeated Kellie Kennedy (Otterbein) (Fall 1:06) before defeating Kyleigh Honaker (Manchester University) by forfeit. Torres then defeated Carissa Hersom (Wartburg) (Fall 0:28) before falling to Ramirez again in the consolation semifinals. In the fifth place match, Torres fell to Gabriella Motz (Albion) (TF 14-4). Torres placed sixth and scored 13.5 team points.

Natalie Majer received an opening round bye before defeating Gwen Burbridge (Augustana) (Fall 0:30). In the quarterfinal, Majer earned a 15-13 decision over Jalynn Goodale (Simpson). Majer fell in the semifinal to Eden Hernandez (North Central) (Fall 1:41) before defeating Jaia Ashley (Schreiner) (Dec 9-8). In the third place match, Majer was defeated by Jasmine Luedtke (Wartburg) (TF 10-0).

Alaina Hollendoner received a bye before falling to Annesley Day (University of Wisconsin Oshkosh) (TF 13-0). Hollendoner received another bye before falling to Ella McNamee (Simpson) (Dec 7-6).

Bopasoreya Quintana opened with a bye before defeating Cera Philson (Stevens Point) (Fall 0:34). In the quarterfinal, Quintana fell to Eliana White-Vega (North Central) (Fall 1:36). Quintana defeated Moni Griffin (Augustana) (Fall 0:50) and Lexi Beadle (Baldwin Wallace) (Fall 1:22), before falling to Natasha Markoutsis (Aurora) (TF 10-0) and Jania Dunigan (Schreiner) (Fall 1:16).
Margaret Anders fell to Alyssa Seippel (Loras College) (Fall 1:22). Anders then received a bye before falling to Hannah Arledge-Teran (Albion) (TF 10-0).

Taya Stanford fell to Sydney Park (North Central) (TF 12-2), before receiving a bye in the consolation bracket. Stanford then defeated Satori Swanson (Randolph) (Fall 4:35) before falling to Brooke Wieczorek (Schreiner) (Fall 1:58).
Madison Cook received a bye before falling to Brooke Schuenemann (Stevens Point) (Fall 0:33). Cook's weekend ended with a loss to Sian Rogers (Manchester University) (Fall 4:22).

Adele Senzig opened with a tech fall win over Alexis Spade (Randolph). Senzig fell to Caylynn Chandler (North Central) (TF 12-1) and then was defeated by Keaton Hood (Albion) (Dec 8-2).
