Firebirds Explode for 17 Runs in Commanding Victory

DANVILLE - The Carthage Baseball team got their first win of the season 17-2 on Sunday afternoon against Brevard.  

The Basics
  • Final Score: Carthage 17 - Brevard 2
  • Location: Danville, Kentucky - Gary Wright Field
  • Records: Carthage 1-1, Brevard 1-7

How it Happened 
  • Joe Zuleger and Zander Tubbs each delivered RBI singles in the first inning to give Carthage an early two-run lead.
  • Matt Felber's sacrifice fly in the second brought home Christian Duarte, and he later added an RBI single down the right field line in the fourth, scoring Kody Krekling.
  • Zuleger followed with an RBI single to right, driving in Felber.
  • Collin Callahan and Felber each recorded RBI singles in the fifth, extending the lead to 8-1.
  • The Firebirds erupted for eight runs in the sixth and capped off the win with another run in the seventh, securing a dominant 17-2 victory.
