Majer Qualifies for Fourth Consecutive National Championship as Firebirds Compete at NCWWC Regional Championships

ADRIAN — The Carthage College women's wrestling team competed in the 2025 NCWWC Region 5 Championships on Saturday afternoon in Michigan. It was an exciting day for the Firebirds, as senior Natalie Majer punched her ticket to the NCWWC National Championships for the fourth consecutive season.

Karina Torres opened with a bye before falling to Madison Avila (North Central College) (TF 10-0).Torres moved to the consolation and fell to Paige VanSetters (Alma) (Fall 0:57).

Rebecca Di Silvestro opened with a bye before losing to Yu Sakamoto (Northern Michigan University) (TF 10-0). Di Silvestro's day ended with a loss to Sara Schroder (Northern Michigan University) (TF 10-0).

Majer opened the tournament with a bye before defeating Chloe Colton (Alma) (TF 10-0). Majer fell to Sydney Petzinger (North Central College) (TF 10-0) and then earned the win over Sara Schroder (Northern Michigan University) in the consolation semifinals (Fall 0:28). In the third place match, Majer fell to Ana Malovich (Grand Valley State) (TF 15-4) and moved to the fourth place match, where the senior defeated Schroder with a no contest to punch another ticket to the NCWWC Championships.

Alaina Hollendoner fell to Amani Jones (North Central College) in the opening contest (TF 10-0). Hollendoner then earned the win over Abigail Geairn (Albion) (TF 12-1), before falling to Zhivanna Magdaleno (Northern Michigan University) (Fall 2:48).

Bopasoreya Quintana fell to Hannah Palise (Grand Valley State) (TF12-2) before defeating Olivia Heft (Grand Valley State) (Fall 0:21) and Sharon Leon (Northern Michigan University) (Fall 1:15). Quintana was defeated by Natasha Markoutsis (Aurora) (TF 11-0) and moved to the fifth place match. Quintana defeated Hannah Arledge-Teran (Albion) with a fall at 0:42 to finish fifth place. Quintana will be an alternate to compete in the National Championships.

Jennifer Villagomez fell to Carly Cowles (Alma) (Fall 1:57) before falling to Leon (NMU) (TF 10-0)

Taya Stanford fell to Taylor Graveman (North Central College) (TF 10-0) before defeating Lilian Hernandez (Aurora) (Fall 2:57). Stanford's day ended with a loss to Ryen Allen (Alma) (Fall 0:32).

Madison Cook opened the tournament with a loss to Katerina Lange (Grand Valley State) (Fall 0:37) but bounced back with a pair of wins over Samantha Chaon (Northern Michigan University) (Fall 1:28) and MaKayla Gowell (Alma) (Fall 1:41). Cook fell to Alissa Caltagirone (Northern Michigan University) in the consolation semifinals (TF 12-0) before falling to Allen (Alma) in the fifth place match (Fall 2:10).

Margaret Anders fell to Makayla Howard (Aurora) (Fall 1:07) before dropping a bout against Keaton Hood (Albion) (Fall 1:02).

Adele Senzig fell to Bella Mir (North Central College) (TF 10-0) before defeating Isabella Richardson (Adrian College) (Fall 4:01). Senzig then earned the win over Howard (Fall 1:56) before falling to Skylar Little Soldier (Grand Valley State) (TF 10-0) and then to Hood (TF 12-2) to finish sixth place.

Sierra Pienkowski fell to Brynn Green (Albion) (TF 10-0) before ending the day with a loss to Gabriella Allen (Alma) (Dec 7-0).
