ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — The Carthage women's wrestling team competed in the 2026 QC DIII National Invite at Augustana College on Saturday and Sunday. The squad finished in 18th place in a field of 31 teams.



At 103, Kirsten Cortez earned a pair of wins with a 12-3 decision and a win by fall (1:56).

Josea Hosea moved through the bracket at the 160 division with a win by fall (4:03) and a win by forfeit.

Other Firebirds competing this weekend included Crystal Gutierrez, Rebecca Di Silvestro, and Sierra Pienkowski.



"The weekend didn't end the way I would like but it tested us where we needed to be pushed- mentally," said Head Coach Tarkyia Mensah. "Two wrestlers finished top 10 in their weights. Overall, we have notes & film to look back on and a next play mentality to guide us right."




The Firebirds (5-8) return to action on Saturday, Feb. 21 as the team will compete in the NCAA Regional Championships in Indianola, Iowa. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
