He rebounded with a 58-second pin over teammate Elvis Muja and a major decision (10-2) over Semmieon Brandon (Millikin) before being pinned in the consolation semifinal and fifth-place match.
• Elvis Muja and KC Brichta-Bachar also competed at 197 pounds but did not place. Muja received a bye before dropping matches to Conor Phelan (Augustana) and Werner. Brichta-Bachar advanced with a bye before falling to Zeke Harris (Wheaton) and Phelan.
