ROCK ISLAND — The Carthage College women's wrestling team traveled to the Quad Cities on Sunday to compete in the 2025 CCIW Women's Wrestling Championships at Augustana College. It was another strong outing for the Firebirds, who came away with a fourth place team finish and a pair of All-CCIW individuals.

Gold 117

Natalie Majer opened with a loss to Camille Fournier (Texas Wesleyan) with a fall at 1:31. Majer moved into the consolation bracket and won by fall over Gabrielle Hampton (Fort Hays State University) at 3:36. Majer then won by fall over Ashtyn Sagely (Missouri Valley College) at 2:15. Majer's day ended with a 12-2 tech fall loss to Lindsey Lopez (Fort Hays State University).

Silver 103

Kirsten Cortez opened the day with a loss by fall at 4:34 to Mackenzie Graves (Quincy University). In the consolation bracket, Cortez won by fall at 4:03 over Lainey Shelangoski (Wartburg College). Cortez then won by fall over Grace Conner (York University) at 1:17, before earning another fall victory over Lillian Hackworth (Missouri Baptist University) at 2:14. Cortez advanced to the third place match after a forfeit and fell to Graves with a fall at 4:00. Cortez finished in fourth place.

Silver 117

Rebecca Di Silvestro began the day with a fall to Lanna Walter (University of Sioux Falls) at 0:35. Di Silvestro then fell to Julia Kanne (Ellsworth Community College) (Fall 1:56).

Silver 131

Bopasoreya Quintana received a bye before falling with a 12-1 tech fall to Nicole Redmond (Avila University). Quintana earned a win with a fall over Piper Eighmy (Central College) (Fall 0:22) before falling to Alexandra Baudhuin (University of Iowa) with an 11-0 tech fall.

Silver 138

Madison Cook opened the day with a win over Brooklyn Foster (Friends University) with a fall at 2:13. Cook then fell to Lindsay Henggeler (Betterman Elite Wrestling Academy) with a fall at 2:23. Cook's day ended with a loss to Shelby Davis (Grand View) (Fall 4:14).

Silver 160

Izzee Nelson-Carillo opened the day with an 11-1 tech fall loss to Maizy Mathis (University of Sioux Falls). In the consolation bracket, Nelson-Carillo fell to Rio Johnson (Upper Iowa University) with a fall at 2:10.




The Firebirds (0-4) are back in action on Saturday, Feb. 8 as the team travels to Rock Island, Ill. to compete in the QCD3 National Tournament.
