KENOSHA — The Carthage College men's wrestling team battled on its home mat Wednesday night, falling 46-3 in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) dual against Elmhurst.
Elmhurst opened the night with a technical fall at 125 and kept momentum through the early weights, adding bonus points at 133, 141, 149, 157, and 165.
Carthage broke through at 174.
CJ Gilbert delivered a composed effort, defeating Corey Bradley in a 5-3 decision to put the Firebirds on the board.
Elmhurst regained control with a technical fall at 184 before sealing the dual with back-to-back pins at 197 and 285.
Carthage returns to the mat on Friday, December 5 facing Concordia (Wis.) at 6 p.m.
