ADRIAN, Mich. — The Carthage College women's wrestling team wrapped up competition Sunday at the Adrian Women's Weekend with several strong individual performances across multiple weight classes in the invite portion of the weekend.



Leading the way for the Firebirds was Abigail Jutrzonka, who earned a fall over Elaina Rudolph from Adrian in the 145-pound bracket. Ella Harpold also turned in a standout effort at 160 pounds, recording a pin against Olivia Seston of King University.

At 117 pounds, Lola Bianco picked up a win by medical forfeit, while Alexis Hozeska added a forfeit victory at 138 pounds. Competing at 207 pounds, Sara Willis secured a fall over Ember Marriott from Rochester before dropping a match to Allison Ott of Mount Union.



"Day two of the tournament was a grind but we're happy we came," said Head Coach Tarkyia Mensah. "We're definitely feeling battered and bruised, but the team put in work. We won some great matches and gave heartfelt effort in the matches we came up short in. Overall, the tournament was exactly the tough experience we needed. Now it's time to recover quickly, watch film and capitalize from the lessons learned."



The Firebirds (3-1) return to action on Thursday, Nov. 13 as Carthage travels to Aurora Ill. for a dual against the Aurora Spartans. Action begins at 6 p.m. at the Thornton Gymnasium. Carthage women's wrestling returns to Tarble Arena on Thursday, Nov. 20 as the squad hosts North Central (Ill.) at 6 p.m. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
