Score: UWW Purple 3, Carthage Club 2
After an extra week of practice and constant improvement within their schedule practices, Carthage RL Club [Grey] felt a great sense of confidence in themselves. The team's goal is to secure one to two wins before the end of the regular season. The Firebirds secured a win against UW-Madison, an opponent scheduled for Week Five who failed to appear at the rescheduled time slot on Monday, Oct. 27, at 7:00 pm CST. Against UW-Whitewater Purple, Carthage Club [Grey] fell 3-2 in a series that showcased their growth and resilience as a team. The roster includes sophomore captain Timothy Fendrick (Hvstl), Junior Josh Martin (RacingDevilz), and junior Andrew Czysz Jr (TurbidJuggler).
Game One was a 5-3 loss for Carthage Club [Grey]. The Warhawks got off to a hot 3-1 start behind player Hvgh, who raked in three goals on five shots. Additionally, Whitewater recorded six demos, four more than Carthage (2). However, Martin helped the Firebirds to a 4-3 deficit late in Game One, after two goals on five shots. Up to this point, Martin scored on an own goal from Whitwater within 18 seconds of the game starting. The Firebirds led for three and a half minutes until Warhawks player Jmz tied the score 1-1. Fendrick and Martin both score two goals each in great fashion. Game Four showcased the Carthage Club's ability to work efficiently as a team in a high-pressure environment.
Game Five was another great defensive showcase from Carthage Club (Grey) for about three and a half to four minutes. At the 52-second mark, Hvgh scored on an aerial goal after Czysz Jr missed the ball by a thread in the left corner of Carthage's net. Down 1-0, Fendrick, within 14 seconds, found an opening on the right side of UW-Whitewater's net and sneaked in a goal to make it 1-1. With four seconds left, Fendrick attempted to clear the ball out of Carthage's half. However, his car forced it to land directly on Hvgh, leading to him scoring a buzzer beater 2-1, Game Five, and series win for UW-Whitewater – a heartbreaking loss that showcased Carthage Club's growth as a team.

Lastly, Czysz Jr recorded two goals, no assists, two saves, seven shots, and eight demos.
Player Comments (Andrew Czysz Jr): "Although this series against UW-Whitewater Purple ended in heartbreak, we played our best Rocket League during it. Looking at the series overall, it shows how much we've improved weekly. I am always proud to play alongside Hvstl and Devilz because they have taught me so much throughout this season. For me, this was a big adjustment after being semi-retired for a few years. However, playing with these guys has been a blast regardless of our results. Sitting at 1-5 after a forfeit win against UW-Madison and this close loss to the Warhawks, we aim to put our best foot forward and finish the regular season on a high note against Wisconsin Lutheran College JV.

WEC Week Six Recap – Valorant (3-3) vs. MSOE Raiders (1-4)
Score: MSOE 2, Carthage 0
After an upset win against the Beloit College Buccaneers in Week Five, Carthage Valorant were ready for a Week Six contest against the MSOE Raiders on Thursday, Oct. 30. However, the team faced deja vu as they lost to an inferior team. It was a crushing 2-0 series loss for the Firebirds. The team includes junior captain Sergio Musaitef (Gio), junior Aiden Hecht (Hecht), senior Mady Savage (Bunny), freshman Thalia Sullivan (Jellyfish), and freshman Charlie Post (Opt1mal).
Valorant Game Explanation: Valorant is a five-versus-five character-based tactical FPS where teams switch between attacking and defending bomb sites. It's similar to Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege. However, Valorant is a more traditional shooter focused on precise gunplay and agent abilities on mostly static maps. Teams typically play best-of-three matches in the WEC. In each match, the winner is the first to win 13 rounds. Offensively, rounds are won either by eliminating the entire enemy team before planting the spike or by planting the spike and defending it from attackers. Defensively, rounds can be won in the same way as on offense, except defenders can also defuse the planted spike by eliminating the attackers.
Map One (Bind / 13-7 Loss): To start, Carthage was on Bind. Bind is a unique map with key features, including two main sites, A and B, connected by a teleporter system. This allows players to travel between different parts of the map. This layout encourages varied strategies, from aggressive pushes through narrow corridors to long-range duels on open sites. After a tough loss, Carthage combined for 58 team eliminations to 84 deaths (0.69 Team K/D), and 19 assists.
Map One's best performing player was Sullivan, who finished 15-17 (0.88 K/D) and led the team with six assists. Post followed with a 15 elimination to 18 death performance (0.83 K/D) that also included four assists. Hecht recorded 13 eliminations and 18 deaths (0.72 K/D) with three assists. Savage accumulated a 0.54 K/D after going 8-14 with one assist. Lastly, Musaitef finished 7-17 (0.41 K/D) and tacked on five assists. Overall, a rocky performance from the Firebirds.
Map Two (Ascent 13-2 Loss): For the first time since Week Two against UW-Milwaukee Gold, Carthage returned to Ascent. It is a three lane map with two bomb sites, A and B. There's also a central area with open space that is crucial for controlling the pace of a round. It is referred to as a defender heavy map that rewards tactical play and team coordination. Although Carthage attempted to tie the series, they were dominated. The team accumulated 27 eliminations to 72 deaths (0.38 Team K/D) with four assists.
Map Two's best performer was Hecht. He finished 11-13 (0.85 Team K/D) and logged one assist. Other statlines included a 8-15 (0.53 Team K/D) performance from Post, Savage's 4-14 (0.29 Team K/D), Musaitef and Sullivan having a 0.13 K/D after going 2-15.
