Arreazola Earns First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year Award as CCIW Announces Women's Tennis Awards

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Carthage women's tennis had three student-athletes recognized in the 2025 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Tennis Postseason Awards, the conference announced Monday. The Firebirds recognitions were highlighted by freshman Rya Arreazola, who was named the 2025 CCIW Women's Tennis First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year.

Arreazola ended the fall season with an overall doubles record of 6-3 with a 6-2 record in CCIW play with Greta Peterson. Arreazola also holds a singles record of 5-7 and a conference record of 3-5, with a No. 1 singles win.

Xingchen Liu led the Firebirds with 11 singles wins and a 5-2 record in conference play from the No. 1 singles position. Liu also went 5-2 in CCIW play in No. 1 Doubles with teammate Niki Manojlovic.

Peterson received the CCIW RESPECT AWARD for women's tennis. At the conclusion of every sport's season, each varsity program will recognize one student-athlete as their RESPECT Award honoree. RESPECT Award recipients have distinguished themselves as an integral member of the team, their institution, and community by upholding the values of Responsibility, Enthusiasm, Service, Pride, Excellence, Collaboration, and Trust. The RESPECT Award recognizes the intangible traits a student-athlete possesses that exemplify great character and encourage inclusiveness and a positive culture.
