KENOSHA - The Carthage College women's swim and dive team opened the 2025-26 season on a high note Friday night, earning a victory over UW-Whitewater at Koenitzer Aquatic Center. The Firebirds captured several top finishes across both swimming and diving events to start the year strong.

Freshman Brie Skalski led the way for Carthage, claiming wins in the 1000-yard freestyle (11:18.04) and 500-yard freestyle (5:26.19), while also contributing a runner-up finish in the 200-yard individual medley.
Mikella Mesina picked up two wins of her own, taking the 50-yard backstroke (29.64) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.24).
In the sprint events, Lucy Brown finished second in the 50-yard freestyle (25.77) and helped the Firebirds' "A" relay team — with
Noelle Marsh,
Emily Belcik, and
Julia Braun — capture first place in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:41.93. Marsh also turned in strong performances in the 100-yard butterfly and the opening relay.
On the boards, Kendall Leistico led Carthage with a fourth-place finish on the 1-meter and another solid effort on the 3-meter, while
Mae Norman added a top-five finish in the 1-meter event.
