Carthage Falls to Concordia Wisconsin in Four-Set Battle

KENOSHA — In their second home game of the season, the Carthage College women's volleyball team fell to Concordia (Wis.) in non-conference action 3-1.

How it Happened
  • Carthage landed on the board with a kill from Kaitie Rohe
  • After a 4-1 run from the Falcons, the Firebirds won back the ball with another kill from Rohe, narrowing the gap to 11-7.
  • Carthage battled a block from Ava Dettwiler, cutting the margin to one. 
  • Carthage gained confidence after an ace from Rohe got them within one. 
  • The Falcons kept the lead against the Firebirds and took the first set 25-21, winning off a solo block and attack error. 
  • Liv Carel came in for her 1000th career kill to bring Carthage up 3-0 to get the Firebirds going.  
  • The Falcons got going with a 16-2 run, opening the margin to 16-5. 
  • Carthage got within seven with a kill from Dettwiler and an ace from Katie Boston
  • The home team continued to fight for the lead, but Concordia (Wis.) took the second set 25-16. 
  • Carthage got on the board quickly with a kill from Rohe to ignite the flames in the third. 
  • Devinn Bell used an ace, followed by a kill from Dettwiler, to extend their lead 11-5, resulting in a Falcons timeout. 
  • Concordia (Wis.) used a short 3-0 run, but Carthage retaliated with a 4-1 run to move ahead 17-10. 
  • A kill from Boston gave the Firebirds a 19-11 score, resulting in the visitor's second timeout of the set.
  • Though notched three straight kills from Concordia (Wis.), Carthage held the lead, winning the set 25-19. 
  • With momentum, the Falcons started the fourth with a four-point margin. 
  • Concordia (Wis.) moved ahead to 18-8 with back-to-back attack errors. 
  • Carthage got within nine with a kill from Dettwiler and an ace from Manojlovic, but the visitors claimed victory 25-15.
