AURORA  — The Carthage women's soccer team secured their second win of the 2024 season with a strong showing against the Aurora Spartans. The Firebirds started down by one, but did not show fear and came back with two goals to take the win over the Spartans.

• Records: Carthage (2-0-0), Aurora (0-2-0)

• The Spartans scored first at the nine minute mark to take the lead on the Firebirds.
• The Carthage offense did not back down, and made the game tied at 1-1. Lydia Sachs registered the first goal in the 16th minute to get the Firebirds on the board with assists from Amelia Price and Peyton Olinski.
• The Firebirds broke the tie in the beginning of the second half and secured the win with a low left, unassisted goal by Price in the 52nd minute

• Price scored her sixth career goal and her third career game-winning goal.
• Sachs registered her first collegiate goal.
• Jess Beymer led the Firebirds in shots with six. 
• Ainsley Stallworth secured her second game in goal, leading to another win to her 2024 resume. 

• The Firebirds will open up their home season with their Battle of the Border on September 6 at 7 p.m. against DePauw at Art Keller Field.
