Pappagallo Strikes Out Season-Best 10 as Firebirds Pickup 5-1 Win at Home

KENOSHA, Wis. - Resuming College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) action, the Carthage College baseball team emerged victorious over Carroll (Wis.) 5-1.

How it Happened 
  • The game commenced with the Pioneers' solo home run in the opening at-bat.
  • Carroll (Wis.) maintained their lead until the sixth inning when Carthage capitalized on a shortstop error to notch a run on the scoreboard.
  • Seizing the advantage, Carthage surged ahead following a throwing error, altering the score to 2-1.
  • In the eighth inning, an RBI single by A.J. Gaca facilitated Chuckie Smith's journey home from second base.
  • Later in the same inning, Matt Felber unleashed a two-run homer to left field, extending the lead to 5-1.
  • Continuing the pitching in the ninth, James Lindenmuth clinched the victory with two groundouts and a strikeout.


High Flyers
  • On the mound, Jake Pappagallo threw seven innings striking out 10 and only allowing one walk. Pappagallo pushes his season strikeout total to 63. 
  • Max Cairo went two-for-three while Matt Felber went two-for-four. 
  • Felber hit his fourth homer of the season.
