AVCA/NVA Picks Carthage No. 7 in This Week's Poll

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Carthage College men's volleyball team secured the No. 7 spot in the latest Coaches Poll issued by the National Volleyball Association and American Volleyball Coaches Association.

Carthage went 2-0 last week, beating Illinois Wesleyan 3-0 and then No. 4 Loras 3-1, handing the Duhawks their first loss of the season. As a team, the Firebirds rank No. 6 in the country in assists per set (11.63) and No. 7 in blocks per set (2.240). Additionally, Carthage holds the No. 11 spot in kills per set (12.32) and No. 13 in hitting percentage category (.299).

The Firebirds student-athletes Owen Otto, Gene McNulty, and Ryan Cholewinski were named this week's Hitter, Setter, and Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week, announced by the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) on Monday.

Carthage will play North Park on Wednesday, April 3 at 7 p.m. to start the week, then wrap up the regular season playing Augustana (Ill.) on Saturday, April 6 at 3 p.m.
