VERNON HILLS, Wis. - The Carthage College men's golf team took second place at the Morningstar Masters at the Morningstar Golfer's Club on Saturday.

"We got some great golf weather today, which helped us turn the corner a little bit. The rust has started to come off, but we got beat up by the weather yesterday, and it has impacted our confidence.

Today we played a course I know extremely well, so I think we had a bit of an edge, and it showed in our on-course confidence.

Alex, Tanner, and Nick played well today, which hadn't happened since October. Now if we can get a couple more guys to find that balance between aggressive confidence and smart decision-making, so we can avoid a couple of big numbers that blow up a round, we will get back on track.

Second place in a nice tournament like today is something a young team needs to be proud of, but Aurora kicked our butts, and it is time to close that gap."
