Men’s Volleyball Sweeps Illinois Wesleyan in Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — The No. 10 ranked Carthage College men's volleyball team earned another straight-set sweep over Illinois Wesleyan on Wednesday night.

  • The Titans gained a 12-8 edge in the opening set with a decisive kill.
  • Carthage responded with determination, scoring three consecutive points highlighted by powerful kills by Owen Otto.
  • Momentum swung further in Carthage's favor as kills from Otto, and Ryan Cholewinski extended them to a 23-20 lead.
  • Despite the Firebirds holding set point with another kill from Otto, Illinois Wesleyan mounted a comeback, ultimately tying the set at 25 apiece.

High Flyers
  • Senior Gene McNulty crossed the 3,000 career assists mark, finishing with 40 in the contest. 
  • McNulty currently sits in third in program history for career assists. 
  • For the sixth time this season, Keegan Brumitt tallied double-digit kills, ending the night with 11.
  • Owen Otto added 10 kills along with Brumitt, Ryan Cholewinski, and Ethan Sprague, recording five total blocks.
