Firebirds Earn Third Place Finish at CCIW Tournament

MUKWONAGO, Wis.  — The Carthage College women's bowling team concluded their participation in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) with a commendable third-place finish across the two-day tournament.

During Saturday's matchups, Carthage, seeded second, faced against Aurora. The Firebirds secured victory in the traditional match against the Spartans, 873-832. However, Aurora rallied to claim the baker match 1057-815 and emerged triumphant in the baker best of seven series 4-0.

Carthage displayed resilience in their encounter with Carroll (Wis.), emerging victorious in the traditional match 886-840. The Firebirds also clinched victory in the baker format match, prevailing in the five-frame tiebreaker with a score of 108-103. This success propelled the Firebirds to advance to the second day of competition for the second consecutive year.
On the subsequent day, Carthage faced top-seeded Marian (Wis.). Despite a valiant effort, the Firebirds succumbed to the Sabres, who secured victories in both the traditional and baker matches with scores of 1016-921 and 1007-935, respectively, thus concluding Carthage's journey in the tournament.
