Firebirds Freeze North Central in Straight-Set Home Contest

KENOSHA, Wis. — The No. 10 ranked Carthage College men's volleyball team earned a straight-set win over No. 11 North Central (Ill.) for the regular season series sweep.

How it Happened
  • Carthage dominated the opening set, propelled by an Owen Otto kill that surged the home team to an 11-5 advantage.
  • Ben Heise extended Carthage's lead to 21-10 later in the set with a powerful kill, sealing a decisive 25-15 victory in the first set.
  • In the second set, the Firebirds surged to a 10-6 lead, boosted by Ryan Cholewinski's solo block. 
  • Keegan Brumitt extended Carthage's lead with another kill, extending the advantage to five.
  • David Markes concluded the set with a decisive kill, securing a 25-19 triumph.
  • Despite a resilient effort from the Cardinals, the third set remained tightly contested, with a tied score at 15 following a miscue on a set. 
  • The Firebirds, however, managed to maintain their composure, holding set point courtesy of an Otto kill and an opposing attack error. 
  • Markes again delivered the final blow with a crucial kill, clinching a straight-set victory of 25-21 for Carthage.
