RACINE, Wis. / LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Carthage men's tennis team competed in a pair of matches on Saturday, hosting the Roosevelt Lakers in the morning before traveling to take on the Lake Forest Foresters in the evening. The Firebirds cruised to victory against the Lakers before earning the Saturday sweep with a win over the Foresters.

 

VS ROOSEVELT

In doubles play, Elios Briand and Myles Krzewinski earned an 8-2 victory over Victor Drojan and Felipe Penuela. Francisco Silveira and Cooper Ferruzzi defeated Yazid Benchegra and Justus Peters 8-2. Daniel Jaworski and Marco Czosnyka finished off the doubles sweep for the Firebirds with an 8-6 win over David Hofmann and Demille Scarbello.

In singles play, Silveira defeated Penuela 6-1, 6-0. Briand got the win over Drojan with a 7-5, 6-4 performance. Ferruzzi fell to Benchegra in a 6-4, 6-1 contest. Luca Okino earned a 6-3, 7-6 (7-1) win over Peters. Cayuela defeated Juan Pablo Espinosa 6-3, 6-4. Miles Whelan fell to Florian van den Brink 6-3, 3-6, (13-11).

VS LAKE FOREST

In doubles play, Briand and Krzewinski defeated Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk and Daniel Tulchinskiy 8-7 (7-3). Silveira and Ferruzzi fell to Bernado Aguiar and George Ciuca 8-3. Okino and Diego Silva defeated Felipe Vazsonyi and Kyle Lassen 8-4. 

In singles play, Silveira fell to Vyshyvanyuk 6-4, 2-6, (10-8). Krzewinski earned the win with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Aguiar. Briand defeated Tulchinskiy 6-1, 6-0. Silva dropped a hard fought battle with Ciuca 2-6, 7-5, (10-6). Victor Pimenta defeated Vazsonyi 6-2, 6-0. Whelan earned the win over Lassen with a 6-1, 6-4 performance.
