KENOSHA — The Carthage College women's wrestling team hosted the 2024 Carthage Classic on Saturday morning in Tarble Arena. The Firebirds competed hard and came away with strong finishes in each weight class.

Karina Torres received a bye in the opening. Myah Rausch (Iowa Central Community College) won by fall over Torres (Fall 0:57). Torres received a bye in the second and third rounds of the consolation bracket. In the consolation semifinals, Torres won by fall over Kirsten Cortez (Fall 1:44). In the third place match, Torres won by decision over Rausch (Iowa Central Community College) (Dec 9-1).
Cortez (Carthage College) received a bye in the opening round of the championship bracket. Cortez won by decision over Sofia Kawano (Eureka) (Dec 13-6). Zurri Zamora (North Central College) won by tech fall over Cortez in the consolation quarterfinal (TF 10-0). Cortez fell to Torres, before winning by fall over Sofia Kawano (Fall 0:39).

Natalie Majer won by fall over Amaya Yoshizumi (North Central College) (Fall 1:11) to open the tournament. In the quarterfinal, Eden Hernandez (North Central College) won by fall over Major (Fall 2:03) In the consolation bracket, Majer (Carthage College) received a bye before defeating Allison Hunter (Wis-Stevens Point) (Fall 0:41). Majer won by fall in the consolation semifinal over Eliana Paramo (North Central) (Fall 1:16). Majer then fell in the third place match by fall to Mikayla Garcia (North Central) (Fall 1:23) to place fourth overall.

In Round 4, Hollendoner (Carthage College) received a bye, before falling to Aroma Marrufo (North Central) (TF 10-0)

Taya Stanford received a bye in the opening round. In the quarterfinal, Callie Alfieri (North Central College) won by tech fall over Stanford (TF 10-0). In the consolation bracket, Stanford received a bye before falling to Elliana Balderrama (Joliet Junior College) in the third round (Dec 10-5).

Adele Senzig won by fall over Kaylei Sanford (Wisconsin Stevens Point) (Fall 1:34). In the quarterfinal, Senzig fell to Riley Aamold (North Central) (TF 10-0). In the consolation bracket, Senzig won by fall over Ellie Brenneman (Iowa Central Community College) (Fall 4:58). Senzig went on to lose to Kammie Schanz (Iowa Central Community College) (TF 10-0).
Caylynn Chandler (North Central College) won by fall over Jennifer Villagomez (Fall 0:19). Villagomez later fell to Brenneman by fall (Fall 1:46).

Sierra Pienkowski won by fall over Kiza Williams (Eureka) (Fall 2:23). In the quarterfinal, Clara Rice (Elmhurst) won by decision over Pienkowski (Dec 6-5). Pienkowski bounced back in the next round with a win over Yareli Ortega (Elmhurst) (Fall 0:36). Pienkowski's day ended after a loss to Alexandra Grow (Iowa Central Community College) (Fall 3:49).
Izzee Nelson-Carrillo won by fall over Ortega (Fall 2:19). In the quarterfinal, Nelson-Carrillo was defeated by Delise Villa (Iowa Central Community College) (Fall 0:30). The day ended for Nelson-Carrillo with a loss by decision to Kiza Williams (Eureka) (Dec 8-2).

Makenna Bovee received a bye in the opening round, and began the day with a loss to Brylie Schaub (Iowa Central Community College) (Fall 4:41). Another pair of byes extended Bovee's day, but back to back losses at the hands of Alex Parks (Eureka) (Dec 9-0) and Aaliyah Presley (Iowa Central Community College) (Fall 0:28) would end Bovee's day with a sixth place finish.
