KENOSHA – Carthage Athletics has named
Bill Buss as the new head coach of the Firebirds women's golf program. Buss brings a dynamic blend of athletic, coaching, and executive leadership experience to the role, with a strong commitment to fostering excellence on and off the course.
Buss is known for developing well-rounded student-athletes who excel in competition, academics, and character. Before joining Carthage, he served as the assistant women's golf coach at UW-Parkside, where he contributed to the program's growth, mentoring student-athletes, and shaping the team's strategic direction.
Before his coaching career, Buss excelled in the corporate sector as an operations executive with more than 30 years of experience leading teams to achieve significant performance improvements. His expertise in continuous improvement, goal setting, and teamwork seamlessly translates into his coaching philosophy, equipping student-athletes with the skills needed to succeed in golf and life.
"Bill's diverse background makes him uniquely qualified to not only lead our program on the course but off the course," said Director of Athletics Ryan Kane. "We are excited to see the positive impact he will have in our program and within our department."
Buss's dedication to the growth of women's golf is also personal. He played a pivotal role in supporting his daughter's collegiate golf career, further fueling his passion for the sport. Originally from Massachusetts, Buss holds a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
He and his wife, Manon, reside in Pleasant Prairie and have two children, Dylan and Eleni.
