Men's Wrestling Earns Two Big Wins over Wheaton and CUW

MEQUON - The Carthage College men's wrestling team defeated Wheaton (Ill.) and Concordia (Wis.) 36-6 and 40-14 on Friday night hosted by Concordia (Wis.).

At 125 pounds, Chris Kish of Carthage pinned Wheaton's Cooper Chapman at 4:04, giving Carthage an early 6-0 advantage.
Competing at 133 pounds, Zach Miller (Carthage) edged out Matthew Au (Wheaton) in a tightly contested 6-4 decision, adding three points to Carthage's tally.
In the 141-pound bout, Cale Coppess (Wheaton) secured a pin over Carter Leiber (Carthage) at 3:49, earning six points for Wheaton.
At 149 pounds, Elijah Zepeda (Carthage) claimed a 5-0 decision against Aidan Laird (Wheaton), helping Carthage regain momentum.
Zaren Anderson (Carthage) dominated the 157-pound match, pinning Deonta Giles (Wheaton) at 4:59 to extend Carthage's lead by six points.
CJ Gilbert of Carthage controlled the 165-pound contest, outpacing Wheaton's Cael Palmer in a decisive 10-3 decision for three more team points.
Wrestling at 174 pounds, Collin Ruiz (Carthage) achieved a 10-4 decision over Tag Kazmierczak (Wheaton), contributing three additional points to the team score.
Devin Rogers (Carthage) showcased dominance in the 184-pound match, pinning Daniel Thaler (Wheaton) just 1:21 into the bout, earning six points.
At 197 pounds, Diego Fuentes (Carthage) outlasted Hunter Kazmierczak (Wheaton) in a 6-2 decision, adding three more points to the Carthage lead.
Heavyweight Mason Kochersperger (Carthage) closed out the event with a commanding 36-6 decision over Joseph Kruse (Wheaton).

In the 165-pound match, CJ Gilbert (Carthage) pinned Ethan Onan (CUW) at 2:27, extending Carthage's lead with six more points.
At 174 pounds, Collin Ruiz (Carthage) delivered a strong performance with a 10-1 major decision over Brandon Monteiro (CUW), adding four points to the total.
Devin Rogers (Carthage) dominated at 184 pounds, pinning Dawson Galvan (CUW) just 34 seconds into the match to secure six points.
At 197 pounds, Ruben Vasquez (CUW) earned six points with a pin over Diego Fuentes (Carthage) at 2:26.
In the heavyweight match, Peyton Smith (CUW) edged out Mason Kochersperger (Carthage) with a 5-2 decision, earning three points for CUW.
