ST. LOUIS  — The Carthage College football team fell to WashU on the road 65-16 on Saturday afternoon. 

• Final score: WashU 65 - Carthage 16
• Location: St. Louis, Missouri - Francis Olympic Field
• Records: WashU 4-1 (3-1 CCIW), Carthage 0-5 (0-4 CCIW)

 

• On WashU's opening drive, Tanner Ludwig intercepted a pass, setting up a 31-yard touchdown as Bryce Lowe connected with Jackson Westmoreland for an early 7-0 lead.
• The Bears quickly answered with back-to-back scoring drives, taking a 14-7 advantage.
• WashU extended their lead with three more touchdowns, creating a 28-point gap before Mugdim Kreho hit a 24-yard field goal to make it 35-10 at halftime.
• Despite a third-quarter touchdown from the Bears, Lowe found Westmoreland again for his second touchdown of the game, narrowing the score to 42-16.
• WashU ultimately secured a 65-16 victory.

• Jackson Westmoreland led the Firebirds in receiving with 82 yards and two touchdown catches. 
• Defensively, Ramon Campos had 10 total tackles along with Briton Stanton adding nine.
• Jy'Lique Barnes, Jeremy Rowlett and John Pettit each had six tackles. 

"We had a lot of good moments. Showed growth in our process today. That was a great football team. We learn and get better from our mistakes and continue to improve."
