Firebirds Defeated by Bears in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS  — The Carthage College football team fell to WashU on the road 65-16 on Saturday afternoon. 

The Basics

How it Happened 
  • On WashU's opening drive, Tanner Ludwig intercepted a pass, setting up a 31-yard touchdown as Bryce Lowe connected with Jackson Westmoreland for an early 7-0 lead.
  • The Bears quickly answered with back-to-back scoring drives, taking a 14-7 advantage.
  • WashU extended their lead with three more touchdowns, creating a 28-point gap before Mugdim Kreho hit a 24-yard field goal to make it 35-10 at halftime.
  • Despite a third-quarter touchdown from the Bears, Lowe found Westmoreland again for his second touchdown of the game, narrowing the score to 42-16.
  • WashU ultimately secured a 65-16 victory.
