NEW ORLEANS, LA. - The  Carthage women's track & field team has been ranked 15th in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Rating Index presented by AthleticNET, the USTFCCCA announced Tuesday. The ratings are determined using a point system that values the national rankings of individual student-athletes in each program.

The Firebirds come in at 15th with 48.58 points following a sixth place finish at the UW-Whitewater Squig Converse. Carthage is one of six teams from the North Region that are ranked this week, with UW-La Crosse in fourth, UW-Eau Claire in seventh, UW-Oshkosh in 11th, UW-Stout in 13th, and UW-Whitewater in 25th. The Firebirds are the only school from the CCIW to be ranked in the Top 25.

Aubrey Schoeneman leads the Firebirds with 22.07 points on the index, as she currently is ranked second in shot put and 19th in weight throw. Alexis Mattox tallied 18.27 points while being ranked fifth in weight throw and 12th in shot put. Alyssa Gulsvig is currently ranked ninth in shot put, while Madison Payne is ranked 23rd. Nicole Tarpley is ranked 25th in weight throw, with Hannah Lizano being ranked 32nd.

The Firebirds return to action on Friday, Feb. 2 and Saturday, Feb. 3 as Carthage hosts the Tadd Metzger Invitational and Multi at the Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
