Men's Soccer Picks Up Big CCIW Win at Home

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Carthage men's soccer team continued College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) play, ending with a 5-3 win against Carroll (Wis.) on Wednesday afternoon. 

The Basics

  • Final score: Carthage 5 - Carroll 3

  • Location: Kenosha, Wis. - Art Keller Field 

  • Records: Carthage 6-2-1 (1-0-1 CCIW) - Carroll 5-5-0 (1-1-0 CCIW)

How it Happened

  • The Firebirds got on the board quickly with a goal by Aidan Crowder, assisted by Samuel Riano, in the first five minutes to take the lead 1-0. 

  • After the Pioneers responded with two goals in the first half, the Firebirds trailed 2-1 heading into halftime. 

  • Carthage began the second half strong, with a goal from Jethro Yumange, assisted by Christian Hinestrosa, in the 52nd minute. 

  • The Firebirds maintained this momentum with another goal by Aidan Crowder, assisted by Luis Garduno, in the 53rd minute to lead 3-1. 

  • Carroll added one goal in the 66th minute, and Carthage's Mickey Reilly responded with a goal in the 88th minute to secure a 5-3 win over the Pioneers.

"Tonight was a great game for the college soccer fans. Carroll played great soccer and it was an entertaining game, which could have gone either way. Credit to our guys for staying focused for the entire 90 mins and earning the win."
