GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Carthage men's soccer team defeated No. 13 Calvin on the road Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action. 

• Final score: Carthage 4 - Calvin 2

• Location: Grand Rapids, Mich. - Zuidema Field 

• Records: Carthage 5-2-0 - Calvin 6-2-0

• The Firebirds' match-up against Calvin got off to a quick start with the Firebirds scoring three goals in the first half. 

• The Knights got on the board within the first five minutes of play with a successful penalty kick. 

• Samuel Riano, assisted by Christian Hinestrosa, responded in the 19th minute to even out the score 1-1.

• Almost 20 minutes later, Jethro Yumange, assisted by Riano, extended Carthage's lead to 2-1. 

• With less than five minutes left in the first half Jack Georgi, assisted by Trevor Molitor, increased the Firebirds' lead to 3-1. 

• To kick off the second half, the Knights responded with an early goal and trailed 3-2. 

• Carthage responded with a fourth and final goal of the night with Aidan Crowder, assisted by Nick Renfro, scoring in the 70th minute.

• The Firebirds maintained the lead to secure a 4-2 win over the Knights. 

• Jack Georgi, Jethro Yumange, Samuel Riano, and Aidan Crowder each added one goal. 

• Jack Georgi led with five shot attempts while Samuel Riano and Aidan Crowder had two and Jethro Yumange added one. 

• Thomas Howard IV added two saves for the Firebirds. 

• Joe Balas, Quinn Roth, Veto Penttinen, and Mickey Reilly each added one attempt. 

"The boys showed a lot of fight today, which is what we demanded after the weekend. To come back from a goal down against a talented team such as Calvin showed a lot of maturity. The boys never dropped their heads and believed in the team. That made me proud."
