KENOSHA, Wis. — Carthage College baseball student-athletes Joe Zuleger, Cody Tostrud, and Bryce Schaum have been named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators Baseball Academic All-District list.
Joe Zuleger, from Burlington, Wis., had a .224 batting average during the 2023 season belting 34 hits, 11 doubles, and a team-best nine home runs. Zuleger had 28 RBIs and a .550 slugging percentage. On the mound, Zuleger made four appearances and struck out four batters faced over 5.2 innings of work.
Cody Tostrud had a .350 batting average, hitting 15 doubles and a triple with a .409 on-base percentage for the Firebirds. A Kenosha, Wis. native, Tostrud was this year's College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) RESPECT award winner for Carthage.
Pitcher Bryce Schaum appeared in 10 games for the Firebirds this season, pitching two complete games. From Muster, Ind., Schaum struck out a team-best 57 batters over 59.1 innings pitched during the season.
The 2022-23 Academic All-District® Baseball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball and softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 7. The CSC Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed at the links above.
