Women's Bowling

Led by Powers, No. 14 Firebirds Soar in Lockport

LOCKPORT, Ill. - Led by exceptional bowling from star-sophomore Caitlin Powers, the newly-ranked No. 14 Carthage Firebirds women's bowling team performed admirably at the Lewis Flyer Classic this weekend. During the three-day classic, Carthage picked up wins over nine opponents en route to a seventh-place finish out of 20 teams. Carthage won all three of its matches in the championship bracket portion of the classic on Sunday to secure the seventh-place finish.

Just two days ago, Coach Zwiefelhofer's program secured its first-ever national ranking from the National Tenpin Coaches Association; following six-straight victories to close out the weekend - including a big win over No. 10 Marian (Wis.) - the Firebirds are riding high heading into the CCIW Tournament #2, which will take place in early-March.
