KENOSHA, Wis. - The Carthage women's basketball team fell 75-83 against Aurora in a regular season match-up.

Final score: Aurora 83 - Carthage 75
Location: Aurora, Ill.- Thornton Gymnasium
Records: Carthage 3-2 - Aurora 5-0

Carthage trailed early but three-pointer from Lauren Knight in the six minutes in minimized Aurora's lead to one point, 10-9.
Two made free throws by Marianna Morrisey in the final seconds closed out the first quarter with both teams tied, 22-22, heading into the second quarter.
A jumper from Emma Thistle gave the Firebirds the lead, 31-30, for the first time in the first half.
The Firebirds maintained the momentum throughout to lead 40-35 going into halftime.
Carthage kept-up the lead well into the third quarter, with a free throw by Lauren Knight to extend the lead, 54-49.
The Firebirds margin shrunk to two, 62-60, heading into the final 10 minutes of play.
After a back-and-forth during most of the fourth quarter, the Firebirds found themselves tied 75-75 with 1:21 to go.
Carthage fell to Aurora 83-75.

Lauren Knight led the Firebirds with 24 points and eight rebounds, while Marianna Morrissey added 16 points and nine rebounds to the win.
Addison Ebeling added 12 points to the offensive effort and Margueret Spear contributed six points and five rebounds.

"We got outworked today. We always emphasize rebounding, and we were outrebounded by 5 today, which had a major impact. We just can't let an opponent shoot 54% from the field and we need to take more pride on the defensive end of the floor. I have to do a better job of preparing our team for late game situations so that we don't panic when we're playing from behind. It's tough to go into a couple day break on a loss but we have to learn from it and bounce back Saturday and as we prepare for conference next week."
