KENOSHA, Wis. - The Carthage men's soccer team defeated Elmhurst 2-0, during the opening round of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin(CCIW) Tournament. 

• Final score: Carthage 2 - Elmhurst 0
• Location: Kenosha, Wis.-  Art Keller Field
• Records: Carthage 10-5-2 (4-3-1 CCIW) - Elmhurst 7-10-2 (4-4 CCIW)

• The Firebirds got off to an offensive start in the first half, with a goal by Collin Moran, assisted by Trevor Molitor, scoring in the 29th minute. 
• Carthage maintained the pressure throughout, taking ten shots in the first 45 minutes of play. 
• The Firebirds led 1-0 going into halftime. 
• To kick off the second half, Carthage's Aidan Crowder took a notable shot in the 51st minute. 
• Shortly after, in the 65th minute,  Moran found the net and extended the lead to 2-0. 
• The Firebirds held onto the lead to defeat the Bluejays 2-0.

• Collin Moran led the Firebirds with two goals and three shot attempts. 
• Aidan Crowder had two shot attempts, while Mickey Reilly, Jethro Yumange, Dominic Gadalinski, Dennis Valle, and Jack Georgi each added one shot attempt. 
• Goalkeeper Thomas Howard IV added two saves to the Firebirds' defensive effort. 

"It's always difficult to play the same team twice in a few days, and Elmhurst made us work all the way to the final whistle. I was proud of our discipline for the entire 90 minutes again tonight and we deserve to move on."

• No. 4 seed Carthage will take on No. 1 North Central in Round two of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Tournament on Wednesday, November 1, at 7:30 p.m.
