Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Carthage and Beloit Play to a Draw in Non-Conference Clash

BELOIT, Wis. - The Carthage College women's soccer team and the Beloit Buccaneers played to a 0-0 draw on Wednesday evening at Strong Stadium in Beloit, Wisconsin. This is the Firebirds second consecutive draw, as the team also tied with Alma last Sunday. 


The Basics
 
  • Final Score: Carthage 0, Beloit 0. 
  • Location: Strong Stadium - Beloit, Wisconsin. 
  • Records: Carthage 0-1-2, Beloit 2-0-1.

How it Happened
 
  • Each team out-shot its counterpart by a significant margin in a respective half, (Carthage +3 in 1H, Beloit +6 2H) but none of the 23 total shots resulted in a goal. 
  • Carthage took five more corner kicks than the Buccaneers, but were unable to score. 
  • The Firebirds failed to record a shot in the final 35 minutes of the game and Beloit's final two shots of the contest were off target, bringing the game to a close. 
  • This evening's matchup was just the second ever between the two Southeastern Wisconsin programs, with the Firebirds winning the previous matchup in 2021 by a score of 3-1. 

High Flyers
 
  • First-year goalkeeper Ainsley Stallworth recorded her first shutout in a Carthage uniform, blanking the Buccaneers. Stallworth registered seven saves in the game. 
  • Senior midfielder Kenzie Zocher was credit with two shots on goal in 90 minutes of play. 
  • The Firebirds defense held Beloit, a team that scored four goals in its previous contest versus Wisconsin Lutheran College, to zero goals.
