Firebirds Cap off Homecoming with Conference Opening Win over Illinois Wesleyan

KENOSHA, Wis. — To start the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) play of the season, the Carthage College men's soccer team defeated Illinois Wesleyan 3-1 Saturday night at Art Keller Field.

How it Happened
 
  • The visitors struck first two minutes into the game with a strike from 20-yards away.
  • Aidan Crowder tied it with a goal in the 44th minute of the half tying the game at one heading to halftime. 
  • Mickey Reilly broke the tie in the 58th minute flipping the score to 2-1.
  • Christian Hinestrosa registered his first goal of the game in the 78th minute for the 3-1 victory. 


High Flyers
 
  • Aidan Crowder scored his second goal of the season, pushing his career total to seven. 
  • Mickey Reilly registered one goal, two assists for four points on the day. 
  • The Firebirds outshot the Titans 28-4 in the contest with eight shots on goal. 

Coachs Remarks

"I was pleased again with our performance tonight. Our heads didn't drop after conceding the early goal. We kept our composure and trusted that we would get the breakthrough. I am seeing more maturity in our game and hopefully, we continue to grow as we enter the tough conference season."
