Crowder’s Game Winner Gives Firebirds Second Conference Win of the Season

WAUKESHA, Wis. — The Carthage College men's soccer team picked up their second-straight conference win beating Carroll (Wis.) in thrilling fashion 3-2 Wednesday night at Schneider Stadium.

  • Final score: Carthage 3 - Carroll (Wis.) 2

  • Records: Carthage 4-4-1 (2-0 CCIW), Carroll (Wis.) 3-4-1 (0-2 CCIW)

How it Happened
 
  • Collin Moran got the Firebirds going scoring four minutes into the contest. 
  • The Pioneers tied it at one off a corner kick in the 17th minute. 
  • Carthage regained the lead off a counterattack as Aidan Crowder slipped the ball past the keeper for the 2-1 score. 
  • Carroll (Wis.) again tied it with a goal in the 77th minute.
  • Crowder collected the game-winning goal in the 84th minute as the Firebirds held on to win 3-2.
 

High Flyers
  • Aidan Crowder, Mickey Reilly, and Trevor Molitor each had two shots on the day. 
  • Crowder netted his third and fourth goals of the season. Crowder is fourth in the conference in goals. 
  • Through nine games played this season, Molitor is tied for the leader in assists in the CCIW. 

Coachs Remarks

"It was a very difficult game tonight against a strong Carroll team. They equalized twice and pushed us hard, so I'm pleased we showed the fight and determination to find the winning goal. The boys gave everything they had tonight and had to work extremely hard for the victory."
