KENOSHA, Wis. - The Carthage College women's soccer team lost 2-1 to the visiting UW-Whitewater Warhawks on Wednesday evening at Art Keller Field. The loss drops Carthage to 0-3-4 on the season, with CCIW competition beginning on Saturday against Illinois Wesleyan.



 

• Final Score: UW-Whitewater 2, Carthage 1. 
• Location: Art Keller Field- Kenosha, Wis. 
• Records: Carthage 0-3-4, UW-Whitewater 5-1-2. 

 

• UW-Whitewater took a lead in the first half via a 27th-minute goal by Nina Malak. 
• Although the Warhawks took nine shots and eight corner kicks in the first half of play, the goal by Malak was the lone score. 
• Carthage clawed back in the second half, as Maggie Thom scored an unassisted goal in the 81st minute.
• Whitewater's defense cracked down following the Thom goal, leading to the 2-1 final score. 

 

• Senior midfielder Yuvia Ontiveros registered a shot on goal in her 69 minutes of game action. 
• Sophomore defender Maggie Thom took her first two career shots in the game, and converted one of those two shots into an 81st-minute goal. 
• First-year goalkeeper Ainsley Stallworth gathered six saves in the game, allowing only two goals on 16 Warhawk shots (eight on goal). 

 

• Carthage now begins its conference slate with home matchups against Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday, September 24 at 5 p.m. and against Augustana (Ill.) on Saturday, October 1 at 3 p.m.
